The Dillard's department store at Chesterfield Mall remains closed after a water main break flooded the store in September 2016.

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — The long-closed Dillard’s store at Chesterfield Mall will reopen as part of the planned $2 billion Downtown Chesterfield development, under terms of a pending settlement between the retailer, the city and the project’s developer.

Under the terms of the deal, which is not yet finalized, the Dillard’s location at the mall that closed due to flooding in 2016 would renovate and reopen as part of Downtown Chesterfield, said Tim Lowe, senior vice president of leasing and development for the mall owner and project developer, Olivette-based The Staenberg Group.

The mall site is bounded by Clarkson Road, Chesterfield Parkway and Interstate 64.

To make the project happen, the developer and Dillard’s will swap land that allows Dierbergs to have parking close to its store, Lowe said.
