From his first meeting of the PTA to dating again and navigating the big city with two children, the comic shares pieces of his day with an appreciative audience during his stand-up gigs. Andy Greenwald Grantland The beauty and bravery of Louie is that he allows us to see him without that armor, as messy and needy as anybody else. Sep 17, 2013 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz New York Magazine/Vulture Bizarre, inventive, and bold. Jun 28, 2012 Full Review Troy Patterson Slate "Are you funny?" Tough question. Louis is, but Louie isn't, which is a matter of this season's risky and rewarding design Jun 28, 2012 Full Review Kevin Fitzpatrick ScreenCrush Not hilarious, but it's good to have Louie back. Jun 11, 2018 Full Review John Powers NPR's Fresh Air Unlike nearly all TV comedies, it's driven not by the ritualistic rhythms of the gag, but by the rhythms of everyday reality. May 17, 2018 Full Review Oliver Lyttelton The Playlist This was (while not the funniest), the best-directed, acted and most profound of the recent run, and we hope it bodes well for C.K. pushing the show into stranger territory in the second half of the season. Petros T (all seasons) A one-of-a-kind endeavour combining C.K.'s stand-up routines with a variety of inspired short incidents, characters and recurring threads that range from hilarious to awkward and from the very real to the deliberately surreal. C.K. can be enjoyably crass one moment and startlingly sensitive or even artsy the next and this unexpected symbiosis of extremes (and a lot in between) renders "Louie" a very poignant affair. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review dave d 'Louie' comes into its own in season three with comedy, guest stars and an arch. Who knew Louie CK could act? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Easily became one of my favorite shows of all time. There is something in it that drew me in and it's not the superficial comedic purpose behind it, although not that superficial. It manages to be philosophical and is daring with its subtle questions. Very insightful and inspiring and emotional. I can't believe this show is helping go through a tough time. Fucking good shit right there. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review mohamed a This season is awesome... many guest start... the episode with Robin Williams and the finale scene in it was :'( though the episode was great... young Louie C.K Wow time was,'t good for him :p Sarah Silverman, we get to see Chris Rock and Jerry Sienfield... the show cast his wife and Amy Poehler as his sister... the last couple of episode was :( I don't see him as host, David Latterman finally quit but it's Steven Colbert :p not Sienfield :p It wasn't the funniest season... It's just Louie 9/10 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member More hilarious observations and gentle jabs at modern life, but this time with a genuine darkness Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It isn't as brilliant as the second season, and some of the storylines feel weak compared to others, but this season still has more hits than misses.
