Newcomer female MC Kari Faux is making waves with her debut album, Lost En Los Angeles. The Little Rock, Arkansas native details her experience as an outsider living in Los Angeles for the first time during a span of eighteen months. Expect to listen to a mix of psychedelic 70’s, 80’s inspired production licks, coupled with her soft but entrancing voice; reminiscent of a young Erykah Badu.
This isn’t the first time though Kari (Born Kari Johnson), has felt the feels of studio keys and engineered mics, her standout mixtape Laugh Now, Die Later released in 2014, garnered her massive attention from Wiz Khalifa, Janelle Monae and Childish Gambino. Essentially, Ms. Faux went from working at a Chick-Fil-A to burgeoning music stardom.
Take a listen to Kari Faux’s adventures in the city of angels below. You can catch more of Kari in her upcoming shows in Los Angeles and New York. On April 19 she will be at the El Rey Theater in LA, and at SOB’S NYC in New York City on April 28.
