Thailand’s hopes for the first AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand 2024 championship were dashed when it lost to Iranian champions 4-1 in the final yesterday.

Despite the loss, both Iran and Thailand have won places in the 10th World Futsal Championship, to be held in Uzbekistan from September 14^th to October 6^th.

Iran, the AFC Futsal Asian Cup champions for 14 years in a row, led the Thais by scoring the first two goals, before Thai player, Jeerawat Sornwichien, shot the first and only goal for his team in the final match. Iran’s win makes them champions for the 15th time.

Thailand’s best performances were in 2008 and 2012, when its teams took the second place after Iran. It has also been placed third on five occasions.
