1971 German TV takes with psychedelic background for hard-core fans. There are only 4 full songs (Chestnut Mare, Mr. Tambourine Man, Black Mountain Rag, and So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star) with multiple versions that account for 8 tracks (2 each for Chestnut Mare and Rock 'n' Roll Star and 3 for Black Mt Rag). An additional track is the instrumental portion of Eight Miles High without verses. The recording and video quality is good, but the 60s background and camera effects are annoying. The gem is an acoustic duet of Mr Tambourine Man by Roger McGuinn and Clarence White that is closer to Dylan's version than the Byrd's single. Black Mt Rag stands out, of course, for Clarence's playing. The Eight Miles High instrumental is pointless - much of it is a bass solo. McGuinn is hoarse on both versions of Rock 'n' Roll Star. Chestnut Mare is ok.
I rate this 2 stars for the average viewer who will be disappointed. The Mr. Tambourine Man performance deserves 5 stars.
