- Dave BLongview, TX134 contributionsAlthough I didn't expect much, here in Longview, I was surprised by the displays and quality we found here. - David FLongview, TX30 contributionsThe Veterans Plaza and the clean up around Teague Park has once again made this park worth a visit. In the past the park has been plagued by homeless residents and mentally unstable visitors who make their way from highway 80. You should be on your guard if you visit the park but it is worth visiting for the Veterans Park. The minature version of the Vietnam wall is the centerpiece but all wars and conflicts abroad are represented. I like to park in the small parking lot on East Park Street which is off of North Teague Street.Written July 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Heather H1 contributionThe arboretum is a peaceful place to walk around and enjoy looking at the gardens. There are plants blooming with flowers practically year round. The tulips and daffodils start in March and the rest of the garden puts on a show until the first winter blast of cold air, often late December. There is currently about 1 mile of trails through the gardens, with many benches along the way to rest and reflect on the beauty of nature. The admission price is quite reasonable and so are the annual memberships if you are a frequent visitor. A lovely place to spend time with family.Written January 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TallTexWallyTexarkana, Texas680 contributionsThe Greggton Antique Mall is located in an older building along Marshall Avenue on the west side of Longview. Marshall Avenue is also historic US 80, which was the main highway between Shreveport and Dallas before I - 20 was built. Many old businesses line Marshall Avenue for about 5 miles as it passes through Longview. This part of Longview is known as Greggton, hence the name for the mall. The building is a few blocks east of Loop 281, on the south side of Marshall Avenue. There are just a few parking spaces in front of the building. With all that being said, this is an interesting antique store. The ladies in front are friendly, and they encouraged me to wander around and look at what was being offered for sale. It's a bit like a maze inside, with several side rooms, all packed with items. In the back, in the southeast side of the building, is a military museum of sorts. Various memorabilia provided by US military veterans and their families are on display. Uniforms, weapons, photos, books, etc., can be seen. Some items in that area are for sale, but not all. I found the Memoirs of President Truman for sale for only $5, which I thought was a bargain. The Greggton Antique Mall is worth a visit, just to see the many antiques that are being offered for sale, but also to tour the military section in back. If you are visiting Longview, I also recommend stopping at Teague Park, on the east side of the city, and seeing the new memorials to US military veterans that have been erected there. Teague Park is just about a block or two south of East Marshall Avenue, about 4 miles east of the Greggton Antique Mall.Written July 7, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ben VenableWaco, TX24 contributionsStopped into Oil Horse Brewing Co. on my way through Longview for a quick beer and a little laptop work, and was pleasantly surprised by this little spot. You'll miss downtown Longview if you blink too quickly, but this spot (and the coffee shop across the street, Silver Grizzly Espresso) are two establishments that keeps Longview from being an absolute drive-through town. The bartender wasn't the most loquacious, but whatever, I wasn't there to chat it up. He recommended the 1877 Irish Red when I told him I like everything other than IPAs, and it was a solid recommendation. If I lived in Longview, this would be my Cheers. If ever I'm driving through Longview again and need a quick beer, this will be my go-to, and I'll recommend it to others for sure.Written May 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dave BLongview, TX134 contributionsMy younger kids always enjoy the place. After ten though they move on to more "away" things with their friends. It's safe and cool with a little one, though.Written June 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Aftin S1 contributionGreat place to hang out with friends or family. I have never played golf a day in my life and still had a great time. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The place is well lit up, clean, and affordable. The couple that own it seem to take a lot of pride in there busines. Can't wait to come back next weekend. Also, they do allow you to bring your own alcohol and have a food truck on the weekends. Must check it out.Written June 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
