- The Adventurous LensNew York City, NY4 contributionsMontauk Point Lighthouse offers a serene and picturesque escape just a few hours from New York City. Perched on the eastern tip of Long Island, this historic landmark boasts breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and stunning sunsets that paint the sky in hues of orange and pink.
The lighthouse itself is a marvel of maritime history, dating back to the 18th century. Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic vistas or explore the museum to learn about the area's rich seafaring heritage. The surrounding grounds are perfect for picnics, leisurely walks, or simply soaking in the coastal beauty.
Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or seeking a peaceful retreat from the city buzz, Montauk Point Lighthouse is a must-visit destination. Plan your trip to witness the magic of this coastal gem and create unforgettable memories by the sea.Written April 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Laura led all the children through a magical 2 hours of crafts and nature information while it was down pouring outside The Barn. Program was reasonably priced and everyone had a good time.t
Can't wait to see what other programs they come up with for children and adults.Written October 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Located in Cove Neck, New York, the site was known as the “Summer White House” because Roosevelt frequently spent much his summers there while he was President.
In February of 2024, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a tour of Sagamore and we very much enjoyed our experience there.
During our visit, my wife and I took part in a guided tour of the Roosevelt family home at Sagamore. Our tour guide did a great job on providing a concise overview of President Theodore Roosevelt, his family and their lives at Sagamore Hill. When touring the home, we viewed and learned about a multitude of the house’s furnishings ranging from gifts given by foreign dignitaries, pieces of arts and books, and trophies awarded to Roosevelt for his big game hunts.
Our favorite parts of the house were the bedrooms of the Roosevelt family, most notably the bedroom of Theodore Roosevelt, where he passed away in 1919.
The home was also visited by prominent figures such as Thomas Edison, Russian state officials and even President Franklin Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt.
When traveling Long Island, both my wife and I highly recommend that you visit this amazing historic destination.Written February 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karin MHampton Bays, NY115 contributionsI took my four grandchildren to the aquarium yesterday. We went early and parked on the street. Admission would have been $161 but we used library discount tickets for $125. Check with your library. The exhibits were very good and only one wasn’t working. We were there until 3 pm and went through the butterfly exhibit twice. Fish food (4 small fish) was $3 which seemed very expensive. There were also many activities not included in the admission which were quite expensive. We ate lunch there—one small food item such as a hamburger and a small drink (refillable all day), for $108. I suggest you leave (re-entry is allowed) and go elsewhere to eat. One bathroom needed cleaning. My grandchildren enjoyed the visit very much.Written July 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Mario GEast Hampton, NY16 contributionsThis ferry is a wonderful asset to our region, one that Ive used for 40 years.
The trips are usually painless and allow us to avoid driving all the way up Island and through NYC....but.....
Ive watched the rates go up during the pandemic and the fuel price increases AND HAVE YET TO SEE THEM COME BACK DOWN NO THAT FUEL IS LESS EXPENSIVE.
I used to make the trip 3 times a month and now Im down to once every 6 weeks or so, mostly due to the cost.
You can keep trying to make up all of your COVID losses this way.Written October 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erin W6 contributionsMy group of 6 really enjoyed the show this past weekend - I love you, you’re perfect, now change- at the Engeman Theater in Northport, NY. While the theater is cozy and quaint, the seats are surprisingly comfortable- more so than any Broadway theater I’ve ever been in. The acting and singing was also top notch! I can’t wait to return with my husband for a future show!Written February 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
