Charles Kelley – Lonely Girl Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

Lonely Girl Lyrics

[Bridge]
Lonely girl
Lonely girl
Ooh, lonely girl
Lonely girl
Just you and me
And the sound of your heartbeat's rhythm
Just you and me
And the sound of your heartbeat's rhythm

[Chorus]
Lonely girl, you're the only girl for me
Can't you see?
When you're all alone, put this record on in your room
Oh, and you won't be lonely
You won't be lonely, girl

Ooh, yeah

[Outro]
Oh, yeah (for me)
(Can't you see, see?)
I feel your heartbeat's rhythm
Ooh (ooh)
Oh, and you won't be lonely
You won't be lonely, girl

Genius Annotation

“Lonely Girl,” co-written by Jesse Frasure and Chris Stapleton (just months after Stapleon’s breakout performance and award haul at the 2015 CMA’s), is the second single released from Kelley’s solo debut, The Driver.

The song is sung from the perspective of a guy who has been waiting while the girl he loves was in a relationship with another man. Now that she’s broken up with the other guy, he’s making his play in the form of a song (a song within the song).

Kelley told The Huffington Post (1/13/16):

I’ve wanted to record this song, even with Lady Antebellum, since I heard it three years ago.
