Audience Member Funny, humorous comedy indian-american stereotypes that compete over a Bollywood Idol in a hilarious way. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A less than humorous cultural comedy with mediocre acting. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member good acting and casting but more of the same. No new takeouts from the movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Moments of very-funny interspersed between others that are not-so-much. Overall, a decent watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member After so long i watched a random desi flick and to say the least i was very much impressed by director Manish Acharya's debut movie."Loins of Punjab presents" is all abt a desi idol singing contest in New Jersey and the story of various participants in it..and some of them are damn hilarious...Honestly speaking i never ever heard the name of some of these actors bfore but after watching the movie i was really impressed by some of them like ajay naidu, seema rahmani. In terms of acting Shabana Azmi is well.."Shabana Azmi"..a wonderful actress..can do a role of a dominant, power crazed socialite so effortlessly..Ajay Naidu as a bhangra rappper is too good..he is the one to watch out for.. and taking various brilliant actors from theater and even by acting himself..Manish Acharya has done a wonderful job... Its funny and u relate to it..even i m not an Indian-American...but still do watch it if u r looking for a change...3.5 from me.. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member this one will go down as one in my list of the much better desi-American movies... brilliant work by the director (may he RIP) and the actors... Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Loins of Punjab Presents has such a transparent motive to entertain, mainly by making you laugh, and perhaps shed a tear that it charms you. May 31, 2019 Full Review Maitland McDonagh Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Reyhan Harmanci San Francisco Chronicle It's frightfully formulaic, with nary a twist or turn on the patented mockumentary form. Rated: 1/4 Nov 7, 2008 Full Review Stan Hall Oregonian The concept is witty even if many jokes fall flat or are incomprehensible to outsiders, and it's an interesting angle on the inclusive ideal pitted against ethnic authenticity. Mar 20, 2009 Full Review Andy Klein Los Angeles CityBeat The most obvious model for this sweet, low-budget production is Christopher Guest's Best in Show ... except with desis instead of doggies. Nov 12, 2008 Full Review Bob Strauss Los Angeles Daily News The movie maintains a nice balance between affection for its fame-seekers and sharp jokes at their expense.
