I've never had this pop-up before, but now everytime I press the Caps Lock key, I get this annoying pop-up in the lower part of the screen.

I tried all the options above, but none of them worked. I couldn't find the "Explorer" file when accessing the Registry Editor trough "regedit". On the other hand, a reply from "ash4ash4" which I currently cannot find helped me!
Apparently the issue was related to the "HP System Event Utility" app which I deleted, and this removed the pop-up when pressing Cap Locks.

Hi @Crenz1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like a feature called "Caps Lock notification" or something similar has been enabled on your HP laptop. This feature typically displays a pop-up notification whenever the Caps Lock key is pressed to indicate whether Caps Lock is on or off.

To address this annoyance, you can usually disable this feature through your laptop's settings. Here's how you might do it:

Check HP Software: HP laptops often come with pre-installed software that includes various settings and features. Look for any HP utilities or control panels that might have options related to keyboard settings.

Windows Settings: If you can't find the setting in HP-specific software, you might be able to disable the Caps Lock notification through the Windows settings. Here's how:

  • Open the "Settings" app by pressing the Windows key + I.
  • Go to "Ease of Access" or "Accessibility" settings.
  • Look for a section related to keyboard settings or typing.
  • There might be an option to turn off Caps Lock notifications or keyboard notifications.

Registry Edit (Advanced): If the above methods don't work, you may need to edit the Windows Registry. This is more advanced and should be done with caution:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

  • Look for a DWORD value named "NoWinKeys" or "NoLockScreen" and set its value to 1. If it doesn't exist, you may need to create it.
  • Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

By following one of these methods, you should be able to disable the Caps Lock pop-up notification on your HP laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Oh my god thank you. I was stressed for a couple of days trying to figure this out. I watched several videos and looked up many tutorials and I felt like I'd never figure it out. Thank you again!
