Cliff Richard, live on air 1966 – 1970
Cliff - one word is all you need. He’s been a star in British music longer than anyone, an icon that transcends generations and who’s sold millions of records in his time. But he’s become so much a part of the fabric of the music business that it’s easy to forget he made his start as a somewhat rebellious rocker; Britain’s answer to Elvis. Famously quoted as “undoubtedly the most important pop symbol modern British culture has produced.”, Cliff Richard had spent his formative career with The Shadows (aka The Drifters), a partnership that had given rise to Move It, credited as being one of the first authentic rock and roll songs produced outside the United States. Cliff eventually went solo and continued recording hit records up until 1970, but his popularity never declined nor did his work schedule! Combined with exclusive recordings and revealing interviews with host Brian Matthew, his numerous appearances for British broadcasting ultimately account for his huge popularity, versatility and prevailing talent.
London Calling proudly presents, five halcyon years of Sir Cliff Richard, live on air in London. Superb and professionally re-mastered original radio broadcasts with background liners, rare and original memorabilia and timeline photos.
