This concert is one of Queen's best. Paul Rodgers sings but Freddie has some parts too via video.
He is not forgotten. But for all you Queen fans to quote Brian May, Freddie is gone and we are not.
And they are doing what they do best which is create and play great music. The very best. This concert was a real feat of engineering and I was so moved by their video of Freddie and their caring for the cause of aids prevention. The feeling in this show was of history being made. As far as I know they had never played in the Ukraine before and you see all these people mainly younger, singing the songs. ) The Ukraine is apparently very threatened with a big aids problem right now. Queen was asked to help and did so, in their usual holy cow! How are we going to pull this one off?! Style! As usual the stage show was cutting edge, the crowd was record breaking- min estimate 350,000 attending plus 20 million reached via television. The light show, the technical perfection, the whole fantastic presentation. It was very moving. I also have a new appreciation for Paul Rodgers as well, he is an incredible singer. He didn't try to replace Freddie but had his own style and the songs are just put together to suit the new lineup well. The usual Queen exacting attention to detail and highest standards shines through.
Plus this has the concert with the CDs you can listen to in the car. Its great to have both.
PS. I have spoken to people a little older who listened to Queen before and have told me yeah but Freddie isn't here anymore, the only thing I can say is yes, true, but this is still so incredible
its not exactly the same because obviously its a different singer but please come to present time and don't waste the chance of seeing and listening to Queen. Besides, somehow it still feels like he's with us anyway. And I know he would've loved this concert!
