I hear a lot of bashing about this recording and tour, but I think it sounds great. I sat at home as a 15 year old with my friends watching the HBO pay per view. My dad was cool enough to order this for us after much begging and what a show! Fast forward 36 years...I now posses this show which brings back so many great memories. I also hear talk of how the Who were worn out etc...It sure doesn't show as this show was solid as could be. Remember, this was recorded in 1982!!! Considering that fact, the sound and performance to me were excellent.... Townshend and Daltry may have been at odds but you sure wouldn't know it. Also, Kenny Jones played exceptionally despite what Who snobs may say. Finally, the seller sent a great packaged product and it arrived in just a couple days. Thanks so much!

Fantastic CD for any Who devotee. The additions of Kenney Jones on the drums (although short-lived) & John "Rabbit" Bundrick from Texas (kind of replaced the explosive drum work of Keith Moon), proved to make this one of the best Who concerts I've ever heard. I highly recommend you purchase the DVD as well, so you can see Roger & Pete at their best.

I've been looking forever for a recording of the Who's final concert in Toronto on their 1982 Farewell Tour of North America. Ever since that night in December 1982 when I heard them live on Pay TV, I've never heard the band play better or be tighter than in this concert. In particular, Townshend's lead guitar, usually sketchy in live performances in my view, is truly amazing, as if these guitar solos had been reharsed for weeks - in particular on tracks such as My Generation, Sister Disco, 5:15, Drowned, Long Live Rock and, most notably, Naked Eye. There are a few songs missing from the full lenght concerts (Dr. Jimmy, Love Reign'oer me and Cry If You Want), but all big ones are there. This recording serves as an invaluable reminder of how good this band was live at its prime (in particular, compared to the pitiful left overs we were served at the Super Bowl half time show this year). Daltrey's voice is strong, and Kenny Jones' drums are heavy and powerful - much better anyway than the light symbal-crazy drumming we've all suffered since Jones' departure in 1985 (most often at the hands of Zak Starkey). The only down side to this recording is sound quality. The concert obviously hasn't been remixed, and the CD sounds quite like the hi-def sound that was on the VHS feed of the 1984 "Who Rocks America" release of this concert (by FOX or CBS). I was used to it, so I did not mind too much when I listened to the CD, but it's a shame that the band doesn't remaster and rereleases this concert with the respect it deserves. So overall, definitely worth purchasing and putting in your safe before it disappears .... 4 stars.

This is yet another legendary show by the worlds greatest rock band The Who. This originally was brodcast on HBO in the U.S. and it's great to finally have a copy.

I have the dvd of this particular concert and was very excited to see that the audio had come-out on cd. However, the quality of the cd is horrible. I was really hoping to have a good quality cd because I had seen them on this tour. It's as if someone had simply recorded the the dvd from their tv set onto a cd. I can't imagine that personnel from The Who endosred this poor sounding cd. I also noticed that the cd wasn't even on MCA records (The Who's label). Clearly there was no re-mixing or preparing the audio for typical cd quality. It sounds nothing better than a run-of-the-mill bootleg. I was very disappointed when I played this on my stereo. If you have the dvd, just stick with that. As much as I love The Who, this was a total waste of money. It's very unfortunate that MCA didn't record this specifically for a cd at the time (in December 1982). It was a great concert from their last great tour.

Awesome recording for the Who enthusiasts!

By 1982 The Who were at the top of their game and could play any song in their catalog. This fantastic set from The Who's farewell tour includes old chestnuts like "Naked Eye", "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "My Generation" along side infrequently performed songs like "Eminence Front", "Dangerous" and "Twist & Shout". This version of "Sister Disco" is perhaps the best ever.
The audio sounds like a direct dub from the laserdisc/DVD shovelware version and sound mostly mono. This release is little more than a well-packaged bootleg and is recommended for hard-core Who fans only. Get the DVD or laserdisc instead.

The Who Toronto Concert
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 14, 2008
This is CD of the Who Toronto concert is well worth having for your Who collection for a number of reasons.
You can buy any number of Who concert CD's and DVD's which feature mostly their back catalogue, but here they have been daring enough to divide the mix between old and new material.
I do like to watch a group playing their old numbers on DVD so I can play along to them and see how they play them and also to pick up any new arrangements they play.
The Toronto concert saw the Who at a pivotal point in their career where they had lost Keith Moon and brought in Kenney Jones on Drums and Tim Gorman on keyboards. This allowed the music to have a different sound than before.
Owning the 2 CD Who Ultimate Collection, I have the benefit of being able to compare the original CD studio tracks with the Live Toronto ones. There is a world of difference playing live as opposed to the Studio as I do both and although the music sound quality is not digital, it is nonetheless a small price to pay for great renditions of their work.
I would also rcommend buying the DVD version of this CD.
The music on this CD as I have said is a departure from the solid oldies show and was daring and works at a time when the group would probably have been derided for taking these new tracks out on the road, they illustrate that about 20 years after their formation, the group could still write and perform quality songs that would still be valid years after.

Obwohl ich begeisterter Who Fan bin, würde ich diese CD keinem anraten. Der Ton ist schlecht, gibt keine Konzertstimmung weiter.
