Styx still knows how to perform a live show. Still enthusiastic after all these years!

Good Styx music and they played it well live

I have always been a huge Styx fan. I loved the pre-Tommy Shaw days, and the post-DeYoung era, and everything between that. But some are asking, why another live album? Same songs and everything? Styx has become a huge touring act, focusing on the road and only that. Regardless of the amount of live albums they put out, they seem to get better and better. This follows up with the Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight live album they did, and regardless, I loved hearing them live like always. This is also the first time that we get to hear Lady and Come Sail Away since their live albums in 2001! It was also nice to hear Light Up and Suite Madame Blue live on an album for the first time since the DeYoung era, and first time period for Light Up.
I recommend this album to add to the collection. Regardless of hearing the same songs over and over, Styx adds something different every time and it keeps me coming back for more. All that I ask, would they consider making an album of new material again? There is always a possibility, but at least we know Styx is still alive and better than ever!

Great live CD that well represents the 2014 Styx summer tour with Foreigner and the band's post-1974 catalog of songs. In fact, this CD is better than the show that I saw in Bristow, VA, because the band plays Suite Madam Blue (from Equinox) instead of the medley of piano-driven songs that Lawrence Gowen played solo during a segment of that aforementioned show. I also wish the band had included Miss America on that tour, as it is a great song played live, but it was not part of the set during that tour. Light Up (also from Equinox) and Blue Collar Man with the third guitar and backing vocals from Don Felder (formerly of the Eagles) are also nice additions to this CD and to the show that I saw in June 2014.

I like the current day line up of Styx. All top notch pros who consistently blow away any other bands on the bill. The band is so tight and plays so closely to the originals that some might argue "what's the point" with another live album. I would recommend this for someone who likes a few Styx songs from the radio and wants to hear what the bands current shows are like or those who want a live souvenir from the past few tours.

I've seen Styx live 40 times since 1978, mostly since 2001 after Lawrence Gowan joined the band. He's one of the most amazing keyboard players and showman I have ever seen! Along with Tommy Shaw, James "JY" Young, Ricky Phillips, Todd Sucherman, and Chuck Panozzo, Styx continues to put on amazing live shows everywhere they go. My only regret here is that this is not one of their longer shows they usually do when they are not on a shared bill like they were in 2014 with Don Felder and Foreigner.

This is one of my top 10 live albums of all time. Sound is perfect, they extended alot of the songs by extending the guitar solos in the song. Like the song selection but wish this was a double cd. Not sure if the Vegas shows were complete 2 hrs or a chopped down set. They have never sounded better.

Alte Songs neu eingespielt
Reviewed in Germany on August 6, 2015

but great versions of old songs live from a great band ...

No new songs which will upset a few Styx fans, but great versions of old songs live from a great band of musicians. Still one of the USA's most popular touring bands to go see live, just wish they would come back to the UK again.
