Product Description

Ringo and His 10th All-Starr Band performed their last show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on August 2, 2008. With stars above them and all around them, they played an exuberant set that included highlights spanning Ringo's entire career, from Beatles classics to solo hits. The show at the Greek was the culmination of a fantastic summer playing music on the road.

This July 27, Hip-O/UMe are proud to announce the release of the Ringo Starr's All Starr-Band "Live At The Greek Theatre 2008" on CD and DVD, also available in 5.1 Surround Sound.

More than a memento of a wonderful show, this is a remarkable playlist of music you know and love which is enhanced by the pleasure the musicians had playing it, and the fun the audience had hearing it. Each All-Starr Tour is unique, a collection of individual musicians who have never come together before and played as this particular band. For his 2008 tour, Ringo Starr And His All-Starr Band returned to the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, where the first All-Starr concert album was recorded. This concert, available on DVD as well as audio CD, features a lineup of Ringo, Greg Bissonette, Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, Colin Hay (of Men At Work), Gary Wright, and Average White Band alumnus Hamish Stuart (who also played with Paul McCartney's band from 1989-1993).

The DVD has great sound and picture quality and has more songs than the CD, including "Memphis In Your Mind" from Ringo Rama (Bonus Dvd) (Dlx) ; the title track from Liverpool 8 , Ringo's then-current Capitol album; the title track from Ringo's 2005 album, Choose Love ; Billy Squier's "Lonely Is The Night"; Colin Hay's Men At Work hit, "Down Under"; Hamish Stuart's rendition of The Isley Brothers' "Work To Do"; and Gary Wright's "Love Is Alive." The CD is also sequenced and indexed a little differently than the DVD.

Of course, plenty of Ringo's classics are offered too - "It Don't Come Easy," "I Wanna Be Your Man," "Oh My My," "What Goes On," "With A Little Help From My Friends," and many more, including "Never Without You," Ringo's moving tribute to George Harrison.

The CD is perfect for the car, while the DVD can be watched at home, so get both of them. Of course, you can also listen to the audio CD at home.

As good as any of the All-Starr Band albums

You have to take these All-Starr Band CDs in the right spirit. They're only meant to be a bit of light fun, not high art. This is the eighth one (if you count "The Anthology ... So Far", which includes enough unreleased material to fill a separate album). Across the eight, there has been plenty of repetition of songs and a moderate amount of repetition of performers, but they've all had their moments. This one is as good as any. The band is good, it's a good performance (apart from Ringo's singing in the brief introductory version of With A Little Help From My Friends), it's well recorded and it has a good selection of Ringo and Beatles songs. It includes two Ringo songs that haven't been on any previous All-Starr Band album: Oh My My and Never Without You (although the latter did appear on Live at Soundstage with The Roundheads). It ends with Give Peace a Chance, making Ringo the third ex-Beatle to release a live version of that song (and now George never will!). Other good things about this one are that the All-Starrs get only one song each, so there is plenty of Ringo, and that Sheila E is not included!

This concert was recorded shortly after I saw Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band in Chicago in 2008, right after Ringo's birthday. The whole feeling conveyed by Mr. Starkey is one of peace and love and togetherness, with a whole lotta rock and roll shakin' goin' on at the same time. I also have this CD and it's a great representation of a Ringo Starr concert "experience". No big surprises except how good you can feel inside for days after the show is over. He surrounds himself with great musicians and hit-makers in their own right, who are also willing to play a supporting role to one of the truly nice guys in the business of rock and roll. A real breath of fresh air, this!

Es gab schon von Ringos zusammengetrommelte Band wesentlich besser, auch in der Zusammenstellung der Bandmitglieder, aber das ist nicht der Fakt das diese Cd nicht an die vorhergehende LIVE ACTS (wie immer) Die Songauswahl unterscheidet sich auf dieser CD kaum von den Vorgänger Alben .Natürlich ist seine Auswahl an Songs von Beatles Songs gering, aber er hat ja auch eigene gute Titel. .sind nicht vorhanden.. Leider!
Denke die kommen LIVE nicht sooo an. Im großen und ganzen mit 3 Sternen gut bedient. Edgar Winter , Gary Wright , Billy Squier können das auch nicht großartig retten. Wie geschrieben...RINGO..das war nur ein Abklatsch von den All Starr Alben davor.. Sorry..Auch die Stimmung bei dem Concert fehlte mir eigentlich..Abgespielt mehr nicht!!

　おなじみ、と言うか、いつものというか、またかよというあのリンゴのオール・スター・バンドのライブ盤である。
　今回のアルバムもこれまで同じく、間違いなく、聴いてて楽しいし、今回はあの人が、この曲がと、もちろんナツメロのオンパレードである。もったいないぐらいの豪華メンバーであり、贅沢な演奏である。
　リンゴもいつもと変わらず快調であのドラムスも気持ちいいし、歌声もびっくりするくらいいい。是非ともまたまたの来日公演を乞い願う次第である。

　でも、でも、一つ不安なのは、少なくともリンゴ自身はナツメロ歌手ではないのに、こんなライブ盤ばかりだと、もう終わった人、ナツメロ歌手と思われるのではないかと言うことなのだ。

　おそらく元ビートルズの中では（一番長生きしているからと言う理由だけでなく）、一番オリジナルアルバムをコンスタントに発表している人なのだ。そして、最新作の「ワイ・ナット」に代表されるように本当にオリジナルなびっくりするほどクリエイティヴな仕事を、アルバムを出している人なのだ。であるのに、ライブというと今回のようなナツメロ大会モノを出してしまうのだ。

　ソロ・スタジオアルバムとオール・スター・バンドとは違うと言うことか。いやあ、私のようなおじさんファンでもそんなことは考えない。単純になんでこんな昔の曲ばっかりなの？あのスンゲースタジオ作の曲を聴かせてよと思ってしまうよ。なんなら、オール・スターライブじゃなくて、ソロライブもやってよ。もっといやあ、近作だけの曲のライブアルバムも聴かせてよ、あのポールさえぶっ飛ぶようなヤツを曲をライブで聴かせてよ！となってしまうよ。

　どうか、こういうところも踏まえて次のアルバムを期待します。

　ホント、ビートルズの中心に陣取っていたのはこの人なのであり、つまり一番「華」のある人なのだ。うん。こういうすごい人のアルバムを次から次に聴けるのは「ありがたや！」とオーディオの前で合掌してもいいくらいの大事件なのだ。新興宗教が一つや二つ出来てもおかしくないくらいのことなのだ。

　そういう所をご自身も踏まえて、ライブを、日本公演を乞うところです。ポールもお供につけてあげてもいいかもしんないね。どうよ、リンゴ！
