The Move have been largely forgotten which is a shame because they were an extremely talented group. This collection is of 2 separate performances both of which contain one of my favourite tracks, Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited. It's a shame that there aren't more live recordings of The Move, I like the studio recordings but was too young to ever see them pay live so recordings such as this are the next best thing.

Sound is quite rough, with the vocals a bit to high in the mix, but this kinda adds to the grungy sound that the band were trying to create on stage.
Not as profession presented as concerts by there peers (Who, Hendrix, Stones), this may be because the band were playing first on the bill, behind Little Richard & Joe Cocker, but it adds to the quirkiness & mystic of The Move’s sound.
The highlight is a extended sitar solo performed by Roy Wood in “Fields of People”, demonstrating (if need be) the musical prowess of Mr Wood.
So a great show, with The Move bravely not decided to perform a greatest hits set.

Great sound. Sung with real passion and supports the studio albums.

This is too long winded forme they drag out the tunes , OK for hippy‘s smoking dope but not those who like 3 min pop songs.

Not an essential - unless you are a Move fan - then it is. They only play a couple of old hits the rest are covers and long versions of songs at that. The recording is good quality and gives you what you'd have heard if you were to be fortuanate to be at that gig.

I THINK THE MOVE WERE EDGED OUT OF HISTORY BY HUGH SCANDEL AND HAROLD WISLON, TWO WHO NEVER HANDED THEIR SWEETS OUT AT SCHOOL. IF CLARKSON HAMMOND AND MAY ARE WATCHING? WHAT A GREAT TITLE FOR A SHOW! NO NOT THE MOVE YOU SILLY BILLY, CHERRY BLOSSOM CLINIC OF COURSE, WITH FLOWERS IN THE RAIN PRESENTED BY TONY BLACKBURN! THE MOVE ARE MEMORABLE WITHOUT THE BAGGAGE, SOME GREAT PRE MARSHALL SOUND TOO.

It’s going to expand your idea of who The Move were!
Reviewed in the United States on 12 September 2021
This was one of the most exciting CDs I’ve heard in a long time. It’s three of the original members of The Move, Carl Wayne, Bev Bevan and Roy Wood. Rick Price handled the bass. This amazing band proves themselves even more amazing than I ever expected. Here they are at the Fillmore West plugging their newest LP, Shazam, and, no doubt, blowing lots of hippie minds. They open with a great version of The Nazz’s ‘Open My Eyes’, and besides a bunch of the songs from Shazam, they also throw in ‘I Can Hear The Grass Grow’ and close with a fourteen minute version of ‘Under The Ice’ It’s going to expand your idea of who The Move were!

Enfin un live !!
Reviewed in France on 7 August 2012
Le lin up ci-dessous :
Carl Wayne : chant
Roy Wood : chant, guitares
Rick Price : basse
Bev Bevan : batterie
Je n'ai mis que quatre étoiles car je regrette qu'il y a concentration pratiquement sur les titres d'un même album.

WHAT MOVE FANS HAVE ALWAYS WANTED
Reviewed in the United States on 4 March 2012
The only reason I'm writing anything about this live set, since it's already been reviewed, is that THE MOVE (what a great name for a band!) is, and has been from the beginning, one of my favorite English bands of the period. Two of my college friends talked me into going to the Fillmore-I really wanted to hear (and see) Joe Cocker-and THE MOVE were just the icing on the cupcake they used to talk me into going into the twilight zone (I didn't need anything "extra" to enjoy the music). Cocker (and his band) was good. But THE MOVE were in a class by themselves. For me, Little Richard paled in comparison. But back in the 60's, very few people new of the band-except those lucky enough (like me)-who were really plugged into all this great new music, that seemed to just appear on what seemed like a weekly basis, and that lived close to where it was all happening. THE MOVE (like THE ZOMBIES and THE KINKS) never (!) really caught the public's ear or imagination. And I couldn't understand why. People's expectations were different back then-really open to new and different musical experiences. People in those days were willing to go wherever the music took them. But somehow it didn't happen for THE MOVE. The live "Fields of People"-curiously it's more unique sounding now than back then.
For those who've only heard THE MOVE on their studio recordings, this set is an eye-opening extension of those albums. Live, in the heart of hippie-jam-band-land, we hear the band incorporating snatches of various musical styles-not in a loose, meandering jam style, but tightly arranged playing and singing. But what's truly amazing is not the tightness of the band, but the energy that pours out like an open faucet. Repeat listening reaps more rewards each time you hear this fantastic band live, and in their prime.
The band had their own great, idiosyncratic lyrics, arrangements that incorporated both rock and classical elements, good powerful vocals, and an even more powerful instrumental sound. Perhaps they were too English-their albums (like THE KINKS) always seemed to have a feeling of fun mixed with witticism and firepower. But live, they were another story. On a good night (and I only heard them this one time), magnify everything I wrote about the band's strengths several times. For me, they represented the quintessential English band. "Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited", "I Can Hear The Grass Grow" (both here), just sounded so gloriously, slightly off-kilter, slightly tongue in cheek, English. Throw in some great (and broad ranging) cover tunes (folk singer Tom Paxton, anglophiles THE NAZZ, among others), and you have the makings for an exciting listening experience.
And that's what you have here-idiosyncratic, exciting r 'n' r from a band that should've been near the top of the heap of great English bands of the 60's. But it's not too late-give yourself some time and slip back to 1969. After listening to this you'll begin to understand (unless you're already a fan) why the band's name was so perfect. If your tastes run toward great r 'n' r mixed with a lot of "Englishness", this is for you. Oh yeah, like it says in the notes-it sounds even better loud.
"Three weeks in America for THE MOVE was quite enough for us". Bev Bevan. Luckily we have this concert as proof.

Eine gute Live-Band
Reviewed in Germany on 12 November 2012
Hallo zusammen,
2x Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited, The Last Thing On My Mind und Don't Make My Baby Blue hätte man sich sparen können.
Ich finde beim Ars Nova Cover Fields of People spielen sie richtig gut.
