See all your opportunities to see them live below!I was really excited to see the Glenn Miller Orchestra perform several months ago. I have always loved big band music and jazz, and Glenn Miller Orchestra is the best and brightest of them all. They incorporate so many incredible sounds and instruments, from alto saxophone to the awesome trumpets with the moving low tones of trombones. Each member truly adds to the musical experience. I think the best way to see them is live. There is nothing like hearing their really big hits, like “Moonlight Serenade” and “I’ve Got A Gal In Kalamazoo” in person, and hearing the rich sounds blended together. Seeing them perform “In The Mood” is just incredible as well. When at one of their concerts, you know you are truly surrounded by big band fans, young and old alike. This music almost seems like a lost art form, and for the Glenn Miller Orchestra to be keeping it alive after all these years is just amazing. The whole venue seems to sway and swing together, as though we are all in a lovely, moving dance routine. The Glenn Miller Orchestra really can get the whole audience on their feet. I can really envision how so many great musicians built upon the music of the Big Band era and the jazz component. This music is such a foundation for so many other genres, and obvious from their longevity that the Glenn Miller Orchestra is the basis for that.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra is a great group that creates jazz music together. The group were formed together by Glenn Miller, hence the name, who worked on introducing new instruments to make it bigger and better. They did very well which started after 1935, but when Miller actually went missing (now presumed to be dead), in 1944 the band was remade with the help of Tex Beneke. In 1953 they released 'The Glenn Miller Story' along with help from Hollywood to make it a movie with the band making the soundtrack, it was a tribute to Miller and the soundtrack went on to win several awards and made a top hit status. Throughout their days traveling and performing they have evolved to make new and interesting pieces, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed their performance and how in sync every single one of them are. It was a beautiful show and they really are one of the best Orchestra's I've ever heard, I love the jazz style to their music as well, which is different from what I’ve ever heard before. You can tell they are all very passionate about music and it’s nice to see that they are still performing and continuing Glenn’s name.
