AMD's stock soared nearly 30-fold since Su became CEO in 2014 through early May 2023.

The daughter of a mathematician and a bookkeeper turned entrepreneur, Su was born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1969, and immigrated to New York City at age 3.
After graduating from the Bronx High School of Science, Su went to MIT, where she earned a bachelors (and later a PhD) in electrical engineering because it seemed to be the most difficult major.
She did stints at Texas Instruments, IBM and Freescale, then joined AMD in 2012 and became CEO two years later.
