Lisa Rinna has just been sued for $1.2 million.
Amid Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Erika Jayne‘s ongoing legal issues, Lisa is facing a lawsuit of her own. However, according to her latest post on Instagram, she doesn’t appear to be too bothered about her potentially impending money troubles.
“During the game of connect the dots while snorkeling on a dip, we discovered a federal court action against [Lisa Rinna]. Apparently, she just got sued for copyright violations. We will cover this case. I hope she knows about it as the papers were left with her assistant,” attorney Ronald Richards, who is currently investigating Erika as part of Thomas Girardi‘s bankruptcy case, revealed on July 19.
Then, in a second tweet, he added, “[Her] response is due on July 30, 2021. We will provide further analysis after she appears in the action.”
In legal documents attached to Ronald’s post, it was revealed that Backgrid USA Inc. filed a complaint against Lisa on June 11, 2021, accusing the RHOBH cast member of copyright infringement and demanding a jury trial.
“Rinna violated federal law by willfully infringing Backgrid’s copyrights to at least eight photographs on, at least, Rinna’s Instagram account… Moreover, Rinna induced, caused, or materially contributed to the reproduction, distribution and public display of the Rinna Photographs, and derivatives thereof, all while knowing or having reason to know of the infringement on her account was without permission, consent, or license,” the complaint read. “By uploading the Rinna Photographs to the account, Rinna encourages her fans to ‘share’ the photographs, thus, causing others to also willfully infringe and multiplying the harm to Backgrid.”
The documents also confirmed Lisa was first notified about the copyright infringement on February 5, 2021.
Backgrid is suing Lisa for $1.2 million in statutory damages and requesting she cover their attorney fees and other costs.
Amid the drama, Lisa seemingly proved she remains unbothered by the news as she shared a video of herself dancing on Instagram as husband Harry Hamlin tended to his gardening.
“Just dancing in my heavily mortgaged house with my hot husband,” Lisa wrote in the caption of the now deleted July 19 clip.
As RHOBH fans may know, Ronald claimed earlier this week that Lisa owes $3.45 million on the Beverly Hills home she and Harry share.
