Lisa Germano (born June 27, 1958, Mishawaka, IN) is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter who has released several albums featuring her distinctive violin and confessional lyrics. She was in John Cougar Mellencamp's band before starting her solo career.

HalogenMarvel - well that is the (sometimes / oft) fickle music industry isn't it? I think you probably have to have some level of toughness to persevere with musical talent . . .

I saw Lisa Germano perform in Camden at the Jazz Cafe - she is a wonderful performer as well as musician and genuinely warm person. She sat at her piano, sang her songs (with a pint of beer on the piano I think), and in between she would chat in a very personal, honest manner. She is unarmingly direct in all ways a remarkable person / musician. A bit of a guru even.
To have a performance go well, so many things have to come together: the venue, the performer, the music and set-up. For it to be perfect, there has to be an element of magic. Lisa Germano was one of my favourite gigs to go to.

Lisa is also an absolute sweetheart, btw. I bought some CDs from her directly back when I was like 14 or 15 and I sent a letter and a cd of my own first attempts at making music along with my money order. Not only did she sign everything I ordered, but she actually listened to my awful music and sent a handwritten letter back. She commented on every song and was so nice and encouraging.
She really does deserve so much more recognition than she gets.

I concur with nnickdl. I've followed Germano since "Geek The Girl," and have just about everything I could get from her distinctive career.A major artist.

Lisa Germano is without a doubt one the most brilliant, imaginative and distinctive pop composers, writing some of the most beautifully expressive, and delicate yet powerfully affecting music of the past 20 years. While I feel blessed to have discovered her art in the early/mid 90's, and baring witness to such a consistently strong body of work ever since, it pains and puzzles me deeply to see that her music isn't more recognized by the media and public, which is why I wrote this (her first comment on Discogs?!?!) because she more than deserves it. Come on world, wake up!
