Calcutta Lions Club regular meeting

The Calcutta Lions Club met for its regular meeting Tuesday at the Peter Metrovich Community Center with 13 in attendance. King Lion Rich Titus called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Lion Marianne Wolf led the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Dinner was provided by Lions Carol Anderson and Janet Christen.

Lion Gary Freeh began the tail twisting with a funny story.

Lion Sharon Hall handed out minutes to the previous meeting. Lion Kathy Barker made a motion to accept, seconded by Lion Ruby Heldman. Motion carried.

Wolf gave a treasurer’s report. Lion Rosemary Bruehler made a motion to accept, seconded by Lion Joe Hall. Motion carried.

Freeh stated the next blood drive is May 28. Those interested in donating may make an appointment with Red Cross online.

Titus informed everyone that the pasta dinner fundraiser has been put on hold until the fall.

Titus mentioned that the hot dog sales have been set for June 1 and 8 at Busy Beaver.

Hall asked for volunteers for the highway clean up this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the 7 & 11 park-n-ride. He also reminded all that the first park clean-up of this year will be Saturday, May 4 at Beaver Creek at 9 a.m. He stated that the Tourism Bureau is looking for help with the hoagie sale at Giant Eagle on May 3 and 4.

The club will be participating in the Memorial Day Festivities in Calcutta and raffling off a Trex bench with supplies. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Wolf, Titus and Bruehler will head up choosing the scholarship winners from Beaver Local this year.

Hall made a motion to adjourn at 7:34 p.m.
