Characters from The Bone Collector have previously been played by A-listers like Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. For the NBC series based on the Jeffery Deaver book there's a new cast led by Russell Hornsby as paraplegic criminologist Lincoln Rhyme and Arielle Kebbel as his NYPD confidante Amelia Sachs, alongside actors like Michael Imperioli, Courtney Grosbeck and Brian F. O'Byrne as the evil Bone Collector.
Who is in the cast of Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector?
Lincoln Rhyme—Russell Hornsby
Leading the cast is Grimm and Fences star Russell Hornsby, playing Lincoln Rhyme, a forensic criminologist who is left unable to walk after suffering an accident during a case, forcing him to solve crimes without leaving his home.
Speaking to Tell-Tale TV, the actor said of the character: "I look at Lincoln now as a very cerebral cynic and curmudgeon. He's here to find himself again, and so I think what happens is, when The Bone Collector resurfaces, it gives him a new lease on life and a reason to sort of get up in the morning.
"In the past, he started to push people away, he was a loner, he had everything he needed in his home, at his disposal. So now he's having to deal with life on life's terms."
Amelia Sachs—Arielle Kebbel
With Rhyme unable to solve crimes himself, he starts to work with young NYPD detective Amelia Sachs, who has trauma as a result of the murder of her parents. She character is portrayed by The Grudge 2 and Ballers actor Arielle Kebbel, who told TVInsider: "She's very intuitive, she has killer instincts. She also has this really traumatic past that makes her the fighter she is today, but also makes her a bit dangerous at times. It's really a question of, how far will she go and does it make her a brilliant cop or an unsafe cop?"
The Bone Collector—Brian F. O'Byrne
Lincoln Rhyme's central serial killer is The Bone Collector, so-called because he surgically removes bones from the bodies of his victims. He is also related to Lincoln's accident—he set the trap that left the criminologist without use of his legs. NBC calls the character "cold-blooded, terrifying and unstoppable, [he] shares a secret connection with Lincoln... a connection that could prove Lincoln's undoing."
The serial killer is brought to chilling life by Brian F. O'Byrne, recently seen in shows like Nightflyers, Manhunt: Unabomber and Aquarius.
Rick Sellitto—Michael Imperioli
Prior to his accident, Lincoln's partner was Rick Sellitto, played by The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli. Speaking to That's Normal, the actor said of his character: "This is a guy who has a lot of experience on the force, probably 30 years. [He's] a guy who's an instinctual detective, he comes from the streets. He's much more about doing the legwork and talking to witnesses—he's not an intellectual like Lincoln Rhyme."
Rachel Sachs—Courtney Grosbeck
Amelia's sister is Rachel, who raised her younger sister after the death of their parents. Playing the character is Courtney Grosbeck of Homeland, The Bold and the Beautiful and Parenthood.
Eric Castillo—Ramses Jimenez
In the NBC series, Sellitto has a new partner in the form of the fresh-faced Eric Castillo. In Imperioli's interview, he said of the character: "My current partner is a young guy who's probably just got his gold shield and became a detective recently." Ramses Jiminez stars as the character after roles in Vida, Fear the Walking Dead and the movie Hotel Artemis.
Kate—Brooke Lyons
NBC says that Kate, "reluctantly agrees to join Lincoln's new task force after their falling-out years prior. A brilliant, overachieving specialist, Kate is the only person who can go toe-to-toe with Lincoln in the forensic world." Portraying the character is The Affair's Brooke Lyons, also known for 2 Broke Girls and Paradise City.
Claire—Roslyn Ruff
After his accident, Claire becomes the carer of Lincoln, who has a tragedy in her own past that spurs her into helping others. Madam Secretary star Roslyn Ruff is Claire in the NBC show.
Felix—Tate Ellington
Lincoln's impairment means he needs a number of innovative technical solutions that allow him to see and hear as much of the case as possible. To achieve that, Lincoln brings in tech guru Felix, portrayed by Shameless' Tate Ellington.
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector airs Friday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
