I waited for the publication of Lily Isaacs autobiography with anticipation and I have to say that I was not disappointed. It is a frank and full description of how this amazing woman came through the horrors of the holocaust and the aftermath of the 2nd world war to become the mother of one of the best known and loved gospel singing group in the world, 'The Isaacs'. In an engaging way she manages to pull the reader into the way that she became a Christian and with her love for music in the blue grass and country & western tradition how she and her family developed a unique singing harmony. She encountered many obstacles through life which included cancer but displayed a determination to succeed...which in fact she did. The book is incomplete by nature of the fact that Lily is very much alive and with her family continue to bring the gospel to millions in a way that encourages all who listen. I thoroughly recommend this book and look forward to the sequel...

I enjoyed this book because I could relate to what Lily was talking about concerning the culture and music because I am the same age as Lily. I also enjoyed her description of playing music with Maria as I had a similar experience. I enjoyed reading about her love story with Joe, but after all the ups and downs they had,she left us hanging, by not describing her divorce or telling us how she dealt with it. I felt like I was at the end of a mystery and didn't find out who did it. I am sure there is a reason for not telling, but we don't even know what happened to Joe. The end of the book was letdown. Maybe it would have been better if she had released it when she was free to tell us about Joe. Just my thoughts.

I’ve admired and was compelled to pray for Lily at the first Gaither concert I attended in Toronto and then had the chance just to exchange a few words with her at their product table at the second Gaither concert I attended also in Toronto .At that time one of my two daughters was serving in Afghanistan and I no sooner got the words out telling Lily that,when she handed me one of their albums :flabbergasted I was unable to say anything more.Just wanted to tell her how moved I was by her song that night written and sung to her daughters.The family are not entertainers but ministers and her book accentuates that fact as she meets us where we’re at ;doing life.Thank you Ma’am.

I am a huge fan of the Isaacs as a musical group and this was a little window on their lives on-the-road - not always the glamorous or easy life it may appear. Yet still their goal is still to serve the Lord with their talent even though circumstances change and the family grows.

I enjoyed reading Lily's story of her life so far. The warmth and closeness she shares with her family despite many obstacles, comes across clearly in the book and the sincerity of the Isaacs in general.
My only complaint is that sometimes situations were left hanging or were skipped over and some totally unexplained, however that is Lily's prerogative in telling her story.

Thank you to Lily for sharing her story. I felt I was with her living each moment. I had often wondered since watching the Israel Homecoming DVD how The Isaacs came to be singing alongside Gospel folk such as GVB. Not that I thought anything wrong in that, but something stuck in my mind from that DVD, and that was when you were on the sea shore and you sang part of one of my favourite hymns, 'All is well with my soul.' I had this strong feeling then of 'a background.' That's the only way I know how to explain the feeling. Lily you have given me 'that background,' in this beautiful book. God Bless.
