Another of those stunningly well recorded Lightnin' Hopkins records from the 60s, and an impeccable performance throughout.

I own top quality copies of all three Analogue Productions Hopkin's records from the Prestige Stereo Series. This 1972 Tradition Everest pressing here can comfortably go toe-to-toe with the best of them. And that's sayin' something! Get this record.

Said best by a reviewer of the other '72 Tradition Everest pressing, "...wow what a sound! ... It's as if the band are in the room with you. The bass is incredibly deep which really adds to the mood." Take that, and a warm wonderful reverb. You just melt right in.

I like me some Lightin' Hopkins - that's always for sure - and this album is fine as is. I do find the backup band is a little rough though, and kind of makes the whole set sound sloppy. They just don't sound rehearsed together all that much. The production is a bit stiff too. But you're never going to get a "bad" Lightin' album, so no real ding against it.
