Scottish champions Celtic appear to have hit the jackpot with regards to the signing of forward Liel Abada, with the Israel international one of a number of gems to have been snapped up on the cheap by the Parkhead outfit in recent times.

Under the watch of current boss Ange Postecoglou, the Old Firm side have proven themselves astute operators in the transfer market over the past year or so, snapping up a whole host of talent for relative bargain fees.

That was no doubt the case with regards to the 20-year-old, with the highly-rated winger having sparkled since his arrival in Glasgow on a £3.5m deal from Maccabi Petah Tikva.

While something of an unknown quantity prior to his move to Scotland - albeit while having registered 30 goal involvements in just 79 games in all competitions at his former club - the 5 foot 6 menace has gone on to prove something of a "revelation" since then, in the words of pundit Alan Hutton.

The former Scotland international also suggested back in February that the youngster's value could well have "doubled" such has been his form to date, having scored 21 goals and laid on 12 assists in 63 games in all competitions.

That haul included a tally of 15 goals and 11 assists last term, with the tally of 26 goal contributions only bettered by teammate Jota (27) in Postecoglou's squad during the 2021/22 campaign.

The "outstanding" gem - as lauded by the Hoops boss - has also begun the new season in fine fettle with six goals already thus far, including a lethal hat-trick in the 9-0 thrashing of Dundee United last month.

The £6.75m-rated man also further endeared himself to the Celtic Park faithful after netting twice in the Old Firm derby drubbing two weeks ago, showcasing his real poacher's instinct as he ghosted in at the back post on both occasions.

Although he looked "out of his depth" in the defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League opener - according to journalist Adam Doyle - it has largely been a year of positives for the £10k-per-week sensation, with the electric ace likely to prove vital again for the Scottish giants this term.

Such has been his impact to date, Petah Tivka chairman Avi Luzon has even suggested that Abada could well be worth in the region of £17m, with Celtic potentially set to make a tidy profit on their initial investment if they are to sell in the near future.
