Jewett was born in Ethiopia and spent her early years in an Ethiopian orphanage. She was then adopted at the age of four by an American family from Florida in 2011. Jewett quickly adapted to her new life and soon went for modeling auditions when she was six years old. 


Lidya Jewett is an actress mostly known for her role in the superhero film Black Panther and the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures.

Lidya Jewett is an Ethiopian-American actress born on 19 January 2007. As of December 2021, she is 14 years old. 

She went to the Dwight Global Online School as an eighth-grader in 2020. 

Jewett began acting at a young age and has starred in dozens of movies and TV shows. Aside from television, she has also featured in print advertisements, catalogs, and television commercials.

Jewett was born in Ethiopia and spent her early years in an Ethiopian orphanage. She was then adopted at the age of four by an American family from Florida in 2011. Jewett quickly adapted to her new life and soon went for modeling auditions when she was six years old. 

Jewett has one sister, Isabelle, and two older brothers, Connor and Maclain. Moreover, she posted a photo in 2021 with her sister on Instagram on her birthday.

Movies and TV Show

Jewett made her breakthrough in the movie Hidden Figures, released in 2016. Jewett competed against 3,000 other actresses for her role in the Oscar-nominated film. Hidden Figures is a historical drama movie that starred Jewett alongside Octavia Spencer, Taraji P. Henson, and Janelle Monae. 

The success of Hidden Figures introduced Jewett to several casting directors in Hollywood. She subsequently appeared in other popular movies like Wonder (2017), Black Panther (2018), and The Darkest Minds (2018). Furthermore, Jewett was also featured in the movie Feel The Beat (2020).

Besides movies, she made her TV show debut with Nickelodeon's See Dad Run in 2015. That year, Jewett also appeared in another series, WITS Academy, as Gracie Walker. 

After taking a brief hiatus from television, Jewett appeared in the popular TV series Good Girls in 2018. In the series, Jewett plays the role of Sara Hill, who has kidney disease, which prevents her parents from working and forces them to find alternative sources of income. As of 2021, she has appeared in 50 episodes of the series.

She also appeared in shows like Grey's Anatomy and Bunk'd in 2019.

Latest and Upcoming Shows

Jewett recently starred in the 2021 movie Nighbooks as Yasmin. The film is about a witch, played by Krysten Ritter, who abducts a writer named Alex, played by Winslow Fegley, and forces him to tell her stories every night to survive. Alex embraces his spooky storytelling ability with the help of another witch's captives, Yasmine (Jewett), to escape the witch's clutches.

She also voiced Sarah's character for the animated musical Vivo, which premiered on Netflix on 6 August 2021. 

In addition to that, Jewett will also star in the upcoming movie Ivy & Bean as Nancy, set to release in 2022. She also shared on Instagram in June 2021 about the movie. "So excited to be part of the Ivy & Bean family and bring Nancy to life," she captioned it.
