And Library Genesis is definitely at the top of list for best sites to download ebooks. It’s got an absolutely huge, ever-expanding library, which includes everything from textbooks and obscure academic titles to the latest bestsellers.
Many, if not most, ebooks are offered in a variety of formats, including:

There are quite a few domains and mirrors for Library Genesis, since they’re prone to being taken down. As of right now, these domains are currently active:
- libgen.rs
- libgen.is
- libgen.st
- libgen.gs
- gen.lib.rus.ec (redirects to librarygenesis.rs)
You can also do a simple search for “Library Genesis” or “Libgen mirror” in your preferred search engine, and one of the first results should be an active URL.
How to Use Library Genesis
Using Library Genesis is easy:
1. Simply enter the title or author that you’re looking for into the search box.
If you need to convert an ebook to a different format (like EPUB to MOBI), you can use Calibre, which is free. It can also be used as an ebook reader and to transfer files to your ebook reader, like a Kindle.
Note: While there are options below the box for ‘non-fiction, ‘fiction’, etc., we’ve found that you don’t actually have to change these. Though it could help for finding scientific articles or magazines.
2. After hitting Enter on your keyboard or clicking ‘Search’, you’ll be given a list of results. Pay attention both the title and the ‘Extension’, which is the ebook’s format (PDF, EPUB, MOBI, etc.)
3. When you find the ebook you’re looking for in a format you like, click one of the Mirrors. Mirror 1 will work just fine like 90% of the time, but you may have to use one of the other mirrors if it doesn’t download.
4. Most mirrors will say Get at the top of the page. Click this to download the ebook.
5. Depending on your browser, you’ll be asked whether you want to open or save the file. Choose Save the file (and choose a file location, if necessary) to download it.
6. Wait for it to download.
7. Enjoy your ebook!

- Z-Library: Z-Library and its many mirrors is a great source for ebooks, especially popular non-fiction and fiction, though they do have older or more obscure titles as well.
- SCI-HUB: If you’re more interested in research papers and scientific articles, SCI-HUB is the place to go.
- Archive.org: Archive’s library is huge and contains many older and more obscure titles. However, many books can only be “rented” and read on the site, though there are still many available for download.
- Project Gutenburg: Here you’ll find a huge selection of public domain works, which are old enough that the copyright has expired.
