Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson became the highest-scoring Scot in men's Serie A history after his late winner against Atalanta.

Ferguson, 24, has now scored 11 goals in Italy's top flight, overtaking Denis Law's record set during his season at Torino in 1961-62.

Wearing the armband again for Thiago Motta's side, the former Aberdeen player rose to head in a corner to send Bologna up to fourth with a 1-0 win.

It was his fourth goal of the season.

Ferguson has already scored against Juventus and Lazio this term, and has been linked with some of Italy's biggest clubs, but recently signed a contract extension to 2027 with Bologna.

Ferguson, who has 10 Scotland caps and is expected to be part of the country's Euro 2024 squad, joined the Italian club from Aberdeen 18 months ago in a deal worth around £3m.
