Burton Albion 3-2 Reading

Burton grabbed what could be a crucial three points in their fight against relegation in League One with a 3-2 win over Reading at the Pirelli Stadium.

Albion secured a first win on home soil in nine attempts and hauled themselves five points clear of Cheltenham, who have one game in hand.

Burton got off to a rapid start with two goals in the first 11 minutes.

Mason Bennett reacted quickest to Joe Powell's low curling free-kick to smash home at the second attempt from inside the six-yard box in the fifth minute.

Mustapha Carayol chose the perfect time to curl home his first of the season with a superb effort from the edge of the box just six minutes later.

Reading always looked dangerous going forwards and it took a free-kick from skipper Lewis Wing to halve the deficit before Bobby Kamwa added a third for Albion just before half-time, blasting in from close range after Reading had failed to clear their lines.

The visitors scored again just before the hour mark when Sam Smith beat Max Crocombe from the penalty spot after Jasper Moon had been adjudged to have brought down Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan.

Albion survived a nervy final half hour as Reading pushed for an equaliser to give their survival hopes a massive boost.

I can't believe that Reading actually got a penalty! Been nearly a year since we last had one and that EFL actually consented to us getting one. Still doesn't make up for the s*** EFL have treated us with...

It's easier when you don't give your opponents a 2 goal start at the beginning of the game !

Ok, fair play to Selles and the lads, it was a really difficult first half to the season, and they turned it around admirably.

Really don’t understand why people are blaming Ruben. The back 4 and 5 if u include the keeper have less than 100 appearances between them. All 3 goals came from shoddy defending: abrefa gave away the free kick, pereira kicked the ball out aimlessly to a button player and the 3rd was just utter chaos. Selles can only pick the players at his disposal and has lost Holmes, macintyre, abbey and yiadom

Wrexham fan here...Just watched an article at the end of ITV4 EFL highlights, about the work of your community trust for peoplewith disabilities. Fantastic to see. Great work. Nice to so many people with a smile on their faces. More important than football. Your club may have had a difficult season but your results here are worth their weight in gold. See you next season!

An extremely disappointing result today.
Losing to Blackpool next week can be soothed by the Royal Soirée at Mercy Manor.
The talk of the Royal County.
Fellow Royals shed many a tear as in one week Waylon will be heading to one's Monaco residence for summer and will be soarly missed.
You can't please anyone.....so please yourself.

As a Burton fan it’s been a tough watch. Pleased for the manager to get that home win. I loved it when even the Reading fans joined us in singing “ Don’t worry about a thing because every little things going to be alright”
