I wish when I did anything cool or dramatic some smooth sax shit would start playing.
The toilet bomb scene is the peak of this series. The silent look of love Murtaugh gives Riggs before his ass blows up is beautiful and well earned.

Starts with the Merrie Melodies theme and floors it from 0 to 60. Absolutely insane opening. Third act complicates things with some decent drama and seriousness but this is mostly a surreal 80s comedy cartoon with references to Looney Tunes and The Three Stooges.

I like this one even more than the first. Mainly because of Leo Getz. Everyone else knows Joe Pesci from gangster roles in Scorsese movies🕴️ but to me he’ll always be Leo Getz, a goofy money laundering hothead. Love him.😅
Nobody seems to give a shit about the Lethal Weapon movies anymore and I don’t know why. Action classics with heartbreaking moments💔 but a great sense of humor😆 too.
One thing I love about this one is that Riggs and Patsy Kensit bang🍆 in his trailer. Modern Action heroes seem so sexless but Riggs fucked. And it was hot.🥵

There’s a scene in this where Riggs is sitting in his winabago beach palace flipping through the channels and when he stops on the three stooges he just tosses the remote over his head like it never mattered and nothing will ever be better than that in that specific moment.
Kinda the same thing I do when I turn this movie on.
80’s sequel law raises the eq faders on almost everything and Lethal Weapon 2 might do that better than most 80’s sequels? Tons of fun, great set pieces, the rubbers gag, the toilet bomb gag, fucking Pesci, the monolithic cast of character actors (if they had Davi in this my head would explode), and I see you on the tv Tales from the Crypt!

Es ist mir furzegal: ich werde einfach nicht zu alt für deren Scheiß. Vor allem nicht für Teil 2, bei dem mir vor Kurzem - es muss die gefühlt 94. Sichtung gewesen sein - zwei Gedanken in den Kopf krochen, die ich so noch nicht hatte. Und die Erkenntnis, dass „Brennpunkt L.A.“ doch etwas Besonderes für mich ist, wenn ich nach all den Jahren noch immer bereit bin Dinge zu entdecken oder neu zu ordnen. Aber zurück zum Punkt: den zwei Beobachtungen. Sie entwickelten sich anhand folgender Momente:
Szene 1: Roger sitzt auf dem Klo, mit C4 am Arsch und Müdigkeit in den Beinen. Er bittet Martin um Diskretion, Schnitt, das halbe LAPD und halb L.A. wuselt um sein Haus,…
ten times more bisexual than the original, twice as much action and laughs. the toilet bomb sequence is a top 5 action movie scene of all time, it's unmatched for conceptual strength and emotional intensity, and that's not even getting into the excellent car chases, explosions and nail guns. unbelievable how back in the day you could just make an entire film series about two guys who are really good buddies; america used to be a place where things happened.
Lethal Weapon 2 is a damn good sequel. The last half of the movie is bonkers as Mel and Danny go loco on anyone and everyone in their way.
Lethal Weapon 2 also has the balance of comedy and action. I prefer the action, but Joe Pesci is perfectly cast as Leo Getz. No other actor could do that role like Joe does.
The sex scenes with Mel Gibson and Patsy Kensit are hot with a capital H. Why don’t we see hot sex in action movie blockbusters today? There’s still the occasional strip club scene, but that’s about it. It makes me sad.
I wonder what we would think of this film had they used Shane Black’s script?
Oh yeah, Sam the dog might be might favorite doggie in all of cinema.
The bonding on the toilet between Riggs and Murtaugh is cinema.
