The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Far far far away way
people heard him say say
I will find a way way
there will come a day day
something will be done
Then at last the mighty ship
descending on a point of flame
made contact with the human race at Mildenhall
Now now now is the time time
time to be be be aware
Carter's Father saw it there
And knew the Rhull revealed to him
The living soul of Hereword, the Wake
Oh my, something in my eye, eye
something in the sky
waiting there for me
The outer lock rolled slowly back
the servicemen where heard to cry
For there revealed in flowing robes
Was Lucy in the Sky
Oh oh did you ever know?
No, no never will they, Ill say!
Summoning in his cosmic powers
and glowing slightly from his toes
The psychic emanations-fly
people heard him say say
I will find a way way
there will come a day day
something will be done
Then at last the mighty ship
descending on a point of flame
made contact with the human race at Mildenhall
Now now now is the time time
time to be be be aware
Carter's Father saw it there
And knew the Rhull revealed to him
The living soul of Hereword, the Wake
Oh my, something in my eye, eye
something in the sky
waiting there for me
The outer lock rolled slowly back
the servicemen where heard to cry
For there revealed in flowing robes
Was Lucy in the Sky
Oh oh did you ever know?
No, no never will they, Ill say!
Summoning in his cosmic powers
and glowing slightly from his toes
The psychic emanations-fly

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

It's not there fault. They're not submitting the lyrics. The copyright holder is.

Seashellz's re-post has the right lyrics.
For the meaning of this song, all I can do is speculate. It is an amazing song, off one of of Floyd's most amazing and underrated albums. The song seems to be about aliens (or possibly angels, or simply the combined concept) bringing revalation to the human race. The "Him" referred to may be a form of alien, angel, or perhaps saviour (I hesitate to say "God" because of its Christian implications). I do agree that "t'was Lucy in the sky" has LSD connotations. With no specualtion, it is clear that it is about revalation brought to humans. Whether by drugs, aliens, or divines, as usually Floyd has left it up to the listener to decide.
@Unsound
Interesting that they specifically reference "Lucy in the Sky".
I assume they got it from Sgt. P, since this album came out one year later than ...Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Or was Lucy in the Sky a thing before it appeared in the '67 Beatles song?
I know about the initials and I also know that Lennon maintained that the Beatles song was inspired by his son's nursery-school artwork.

In this PF song's context the reference seems luciferian (as in "light-bearer").
Someone please explain to me why Demau Senae hasn't been banned from submitting lyrics yet. This kid has the worst hearing of anyone I've ever known, and yet he's submitted thousands of completely wrong lyrics to the site.
Absolutely love this piece, from the guitar at the beginning down to the very last second. I would indeed agree it goes with the theory that, even in a non-scientific manner, most hallucinogens/psychotics were accepted to put you more in-tune with the universe. Granted, I've never taken them, and have very little, if any, intent on ever doing so, but from observing others' experiences with them, and the general notion of increased vividity and "connection", I think it's fairly reasonable that this song would be something along those lines.
P.S. Thanks to seashellz for the corrected lyrics; however, only one thing that was right in the first lyrics posting is that the "...servicemen were heard to sigh", not "cry".
Personne a rien écrit sur cette merveille la??? c la premiere toune que j'ai entendu de pink floyd et depuis ce temps je voue un culte inconsidérable a ce groupe!!! VIVE PINK FLOYD
I don't understand why nobody comments this fabulous song! This is the first song of Pink Floyd that I heard and since then, Pink Floyd is my favourite groups of all time. LONG LIVE PINK FLOYD!!
@silver_eve
18 years later you are vindicated by all of these comments, mon vieux.

I agree 100%, a terribly fantastic song.
I love this song, it's my 2nd favorite song on my favorite Floyd album.
This song sounds so magical. Sigh.
The repeating line is the exact same tune from the "Intersteller Overdrive". Doot doot, doo doo doo... doot doot, doo doo doo...
I find it quite obviously about alien lifeform landing... the lyrics posted are very very wrong however..
I I think it’s about Thanksgiving… Before, during and After
Lucy in the sky is an undeniable reference to LSD, so don't say it's not about drugs. I think this song is suggesting that there is something otherworldly about LSD, and that it is meant to help the human race advance. (Definitely believable if you've ever taken it.) Terence McKenna (an author) thought that psychedelics were meant to tune the brain in with cosmic communication channels between different alien races.
@hungrybear
Yes. Spot on.
Luciferian.
