i own this, but why? it's everything i dislike about fatboy slim with nothing i sorta like ...

"Dub Be Good to Me" remains a pleasure, and hardly a guilty one at that. I mean, what's not to like? Bassline from "Guns of Brixton;" harmonica from Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo; some half-assed deejay toasting, and a lazy Lindy Layton vocal. It's either a hit single or a cry for help. Probably both.
"Before I Grow Too Old" would have been a worthy follow-up, with its vague dancehall vibe and sunny trumpets. Somehow it got passed over in favour of "Burundi Blues." Everything else is just a mishmash of samples, none of which rise to the occasion. To this day I remain most disappointed with "Tribute to King Tubby." In Norman Cook's hands I expected something mind-blowing. Obviously he wasn't quite there yet.

This is one of Norman Cook's projects before he started making records under the name Fatboy Slim. A lot of fun, with cool samples and beats showing what he would later do under his more famous moniker.
