      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Slick animation, catchy songs, and some winning voice work from a cast led by Adam Sandler help Leo strike an uneasy balance between satirical and sweet.

Leo's uplifting message and (mostly) wholesome humor make for an animated movie the whole family can enjoy.

Sharon P My 7 yo grandson and his mom and dad couldn't wait to have me watch this last year. Today we watched it for the 4th time with his aunt and uncle. I think it's one of the best animated movies ever. We all love it. It's funny and perfectly captures the world of 5th graders. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Joshua Reyes Productions 10/10! The movie is cool Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Miguel M Una excelente pelicula con un mensaje muy interesante, esto debe de tener mas reconocimiento. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review willow R This movie is fantastic, I already cannot wait for the next movie, It's like I'm watching something that was made for me, It's hilarious to all ages. If there was a more adult show I'd binge it all in one night, although it is amazing already Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Dora L I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing was spectacular about the movie but everything worked and it turned out to be a decent comedy. Even the bad songs add value. The people who made this movie were talented and cared about it. Gross/Bathroom humor was minimal. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review NotFunny B I laughed. I cried. And when I was first about to cry Leo damn near made me laugh talking bout crying is dumb. The advice was really good and relatable. It was so funny. Robert Levin Newsday "Leo" has a positive message and some first-rate Sandler voice work. For many viewers, that's probably enough. But honesty compels us to note that there's a much better movie in there somewhere. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 31, 2024 Full Review Sophie Butcher Empire Magazine Fun, warm, but meandering and too-long, Leo is an animated adventure with kindness and celebrating individuality on its mind – and is a great showcase for Sandler’s voice talents. Rated: 3/5 Nov 27, 2023 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News It’s no classic, but it is funny and endearing. Kids will love it. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 27, 2023 Full Review Luke Goodsell ABC News (Australia) The star’s childlike naïveté is well suited to this pre-teen world, where the tone meets kids on their own terms — and the life lessons are delivered with a refreshing lack of sentimentality. Apr 10, 2024 Full Review Shawn Edwards Fox 4 Kansas City This animated musical, called Leo, is way more heartwarming than I was expecting, but it is as silly as I thought it would be. Rated: 3/5 Dec 27, 2023 Full Review Sean P. Means The Movie Cricket “Leo” is a simple, yet effective, animated movie, whose gentle humor disguises a sweet parable about learning from one’s elders — even the scaly ones.
