Leeds United: Leo Hjelde to miss next three games - Expert

Leo Hjelde out until end of October missing three Leeds United games – Injury Expert

Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde is now unlikely to return until the 29th of October after completing his appendectomy surgery, according to Ben Dinnery.

The injury expert has shared the update with the Norweigian enforcer now set to miss the next three Premier League games against Arsenal, Fulham and Leicester.

Jesse Marsch confirmed his surgery at the start of the month which came out of nowhere, with Hjelde previously being a regular on the bench at Elland Road.

Sharing the news on his Premier League website, Dinnery also dropped numerous updates on others within the squad currently battling their issues.

Junior Firpo will join Luis Sinisterra in the squad for the Arsenal clash with Archie Gray close to full recovery too it seems after his stubbed toe.

Adam Forshaw looks set to be next in line after Hjelde, although Stuart Dallas will likely have to wait until next year to return to full action for the Whites.

Blow.

Hjelde would have been targeting this season to really kick on at Elland Road after breaking through under Marcelo Bielsa in the 2021/22 season.

Standout performances against the likes of West Ham United would have seen the young talent become a genuine option for that left-back role as our struggles continue.

Pascal Struijk has started every game in that position so far this season, with Junior Firpo consistently picking up injury after injury it seems since arriving.

With no new left-back signed, Hjelde was on the bench each week until his surgery, something which will see him playing catch up upon his return to action.

Three games are to come before that trip to Liverpool, and it would be a very big surprise if he gets any action between now and the World Cup – unfortunately for him.

Right now though, the main focus will be recovery and once that happens, he can worry about forcing his way back into the plans of Marsch.

In other Leeds United news, this player could be first in the Elland Road boardroom as new contract talks may take centre stage
