Chronology
League of Legends Pro League (LPL) is the highest-level League of Legends professional tournament in mainland China, which is the only channel for the China division to the annual mid-season invitational tournament and the global finals. LPL consists of the spring and summer splits, and each season is divided into two parts: regular season and playoffs. The teams that advance to the playoffs will participate in the fierce competition for the seasonal championship and high prize money.
Format[edit]
- Group Stage - January 9th - March 28th, 2021
- Single round robin
- All matches are Bo3
- Top 10 advanced to Playoffs
- Top 2 teams get seeded into the semifinals
- 3rd and 4th place teams get seeded into the last round of playoffs
- 5th and 6th place teams get seeded into the second round of playoffs
- 7 - 10th place teams get seeded into the first round of playoffs
- Tiebreakers
- If two or more teams have won the same number of matches, the tie will be broken by the order:
- Games differential
- Head-to-head results

- Playoffs - April 1st - April 18th, 2021
- Phase One: King-of-the-Hill
- 3rd - 10th seeded teams from Group Stage are divided into two brackets to play a King-of-the-Hill format
- 3rd, 6th, 7th and 10th seed are in one bracket (the first bracket), the other 4 seeds are in the other
- The winners advance to Phase Two
- The winner of the first bracket faces 2nd seed team in the Double-Elimination Stage, the other faces the 1st seed
- 3rd - 10th seeded teams from Group Stage are divided into two brackets to play a King-of-the-Hill format
- Phase Two: Double-Elimination
- Four teams play in a Double-Elimination format to compete for the championship
- All matches are Bo5
- Winner qualifies for Mid Season Invitational 2021
- Phase One: King-of-the-Hill
- Free Side Selection Privilege
- The teams have Free Side Selection Privilege can choose which three games of the Bo5 series to pick the side
- At the last match of Playoffs Phase One and the lower bracket matches of Playoffs Phase Two, the Free Side Selection Privilege will be determined by coin toss. Besides that, the higher seeded teams (in Grand Finals, the upper bracket winner) will have the Free Side Selection Privilege.
