We just did the Attico tour, April 2024.
They allow 8 people per half hour which means you essentially have the top section of the colosseo all to yourself. Zero crowds and basically zero other people. Thats fantastic.
When you get inside the stadium, walk all the way as far as you can go around the ground level. You’ll eventually get to a tiny elevator. There will be a sign that says wait here for the attico experience. Wait there. When the elevator comes back down, they’ll get you. It takes you up high and then there are still more steps to go even higher.
Once you’re back down, walk over to gate 12. It’s by itself, not part of gates 1 to 11. Stand in that line (the audio guide line) and present your attico ticket to them. They’ll give you a sticker to access the arena level. When you have that sticker, you can go there. Without an arena ticket, it’s nearly impossible to really see into the underground.
Finally, visit the general admission area where most people are going.
In general, the lines are well maintained. You really do only need to be there 15 minutes early.

Very nice location. It was a good place to take a break and enjoy what Rome is known for. I will visit again. Very nice indeed.

This is a must do if you are visiting Rome! We arrived at 7:30 and the line was already wrapped around the perimeter of the square. The line moved quickly and we were through security within an hour. We used a free downloaded audio tour (Rick Steves) to get us through the area (inside and out). Currently the Vatican is getting ready for the Jubilee Year in 2025 so many things are being refurbished or constructed at the time of our visit including the main altar which was disappointing. Once inside the crowds spread out and you have lots of time and space to experience the space. Remember this is a place of worship and to be respectful of those praying. The crypt underneath was very interesting.

One of the most visited squares in Rome, there are always crowds of people, street artists and musicians. At its center there is very nice fountain.
In the past it was a Roman stadium.

A must visit part of Rome. Just over the river. So many lovely bars and restaurants and live music. As you cross the river you can feel the atmosphere change, more relaxed, less traffic. It’s pretty, quirky, fun. Not expensive.

The vTican museum has a lot of statues and artifacts that are worth the visit, only if you can handle the crowd. We had to keep moving because of the crowd. We couldn't really enjoy the museum because of the crowd.

In the last 10 years I think I have visited the Palatine Hill 4 times and there was always something new to see that I had previously missed. Here was the center of the Roman Empire (along with the adjacent forum). If you want to save yourself the huge queues to enter, it is best to buy a ticket in advance and enter through the entrance on Via Celio (Biglietteria Palatino)

In my opinion, this is the most interesting place in all of Rome. Here is collected the history and fate of the Roman Empire. If you want to avoid the huge lines to get in, it's best to buy a ticket in advance and enter via the Via Celio (Biglietteria Palatino) entrance

This was our first visit to the castle while visiting Rome. We didn’t buy a ticket ahead of time, so we stood in the line. Luckily, it only took about 15 minutes to get in. The walk through of the castle was really interesting. I liked the signs in English that explained the various parts of the history. Probably our favorite part were the views from the viewing areas. We took some incredible pictures of the Vatican and the rest of Rome. I highly recommend you take some time to visit the castle and learn its rich history.
