The strikingly talented actress, Laura Elizabeth Harris was born on November 20, 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Both of her parents were public school teachers. Laura Harris started acting when she was only five years old in CBC radio dramas and animated series. Harris is multilingual and proficient in Spanish and French respectively.
She attended an all-girls private school named Crofton House School in Vancouver, Canada. She started her career in Vancouver. Her first on camera audition was for a series regular in the television series “Fifteen” in which she starred opposite Ryan Reynolds and Enuka Okuma. She also lent her voice to the children’s television show “My Little Pony Tales.” This started a long chain of television shows such as “The X-Files,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and “Defying Gravity,” in which she starred with Ron Livingston.
She is prominently known for her role in the television series “Dead Like Me,” where she played Daisy Adair. According to Harris, she spent time studying Rosalind Russell movies and Ted Baxter in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in order to prepare for her performance as Daisy Adair. Laura Harris is also well known for her performance in the spy drama series “24,” where she played the role of Marie Warner alongside Kiefer Sutherland. Harris allegedly listened to Eminem in order to prepare herself for the character of Marie Warner. She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for this performance.
In film, Laura Harris is known for playing Marybeth in Robert Rodriguez’s “The Faculty,” starring with John Stewart, Usher, Josh Hartnett and Elijah Wood, “Suicide Kings” with Christopher Walken and Johnny Galecki, and the British comedy “Severance.”
She also voiced the lead Kitty Pryde in Marvel’s “Astonishing X- Men: Unstoppable.”
In 2010, Laura Harris took a break from acting to attend college for the first time in her mid thirties. While studying at UC Berkeley, she started directing highly sensitive projects with leaders in the activist community. In 2013 Harris was offered a job at a tech company that helps movements, political campaigns and non-profits organize their communities at scale–used by Jacinda Ardern (Prime Minister of New Zealand), Emmanuel Macron (President of France), Nobel Prize winning activist Malala and thousands of communities world wide “to organize and move people to action.” Harris currently runs a team tasked with “slowing down tribalism that leads to violence, and creating projects that accelerate our capacity to have hard conversations.”
In 2019 Laura signed with John Carrabino, her longtime manager in Los Angeles, with plans to integrate both areas of her professional careers.
