Clive C A touching, superbly acted character study with some subtly delivered truths but also some sharp, achingly funny lines – particularly from Bryan Cranston's character. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Rowan C I watched this movie last night, the cast is great, really good chemistry between the 3 main characters. The story itself is great as well as the acting and script however I think the music attached to the movie is below par and is only thing that let's the movie down. Would definitely recommend. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Luke W How did I never hear about this movie? It is an instant classic for me. I laughed, I cried, I loved the character development. Featured some of my favorite actors who were very convincing in their roles. This movie was thick with explorations of personal values and life lessons: growing up, consequences of life choices, aspects of emotional maturity, and an examination of different people making different decisions based on their differing personalities and backgrounds. Furthermore, the characters demonstrated how we can learn to respect others' perspectives, as difficult as that can be sometimes, and still show love to each-other. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Jason P Beautiful movie about service, loyalty & friendship. Well acted. I'm not crying, you're crying. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Andrew H Last Flag Flying is an absolute gem of a movie, cinematic arts stripped down to basics with no embellishments. Let's start with a little appreciated highlight - Bob Dylan's superb singing of his 1997 song "Not Dark Yet" over the closing credits. Dylan's voice never sounds better. Backed by achingly sweet looping harmonies, organ sweeps, mesmerizing drums and a bass that goes on and on, this sonic production by Daniel Lanois really is one for the ages. And this song is so appropriate as a closing comment on the movie's story - about three Nam vets coming to terms with the shame of a lie from their past. Superb layered performances by Steve Carroll and Bryan Cranston, so real, and a first-rate script that only had one or two weak lines. Highly recommended. Would definitely watch it again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Alec B The film meanders quite a bit and not in the interesting ways Linklater's films often do. That said most of the performances are quite good, especially Carell who is low key and moving. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Stratton The Australian Last Flag Flying raises many questions in a sober and involving manner. The three protagonists are sharply contrasted. Rated: 4/5 Apr 27, 2018 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) But as a statement about the consequences of America's wars - from Vietnam to Iraq and beyond - Last Flag Flying suffers a little from its maker's preference for keeping things low key. Rated: 3/5 Apr 27, 2018 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times At least there's a camaraderie in knowing that your losses were for nothing. Rated: 3/5 Jan 31, 2018 Full Review Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine I’ll concede: A normal Linklater hang-out movie is mapped on top of a sober Iraq drama, and the mixture doesn’t mesh...Linklater has often proven that perhaps any kind of theme or setting can be reshaped in his mold; this time, it doesn’t take.
