When I bought this album in 1992 and played it for my friends, they said "Blaaahh", while I said "Yeaaahh"....I guess I'm just partial when it comes to "Earth, Wind & Fire", because "Last Days, and Time" fascinated me....

Let me explain: See I love to hear how a group develops, and with this album, "Earth, Wind & Fire" was like a sports team that was rebuilding...This is the very first record with "Phillip Bailey", "Larry Dunn", and "Ralph Johnson"...."Maurice" and "Verdine" were the only ones left after the first draft...The rest of the group were great roll players in: "Roland Bautista" (Guitar), "Ronnie Laws" (Saxophone and Flute), and "Jessica Cleaves" (who "Maurice" just stole from "The Friends of Distinction")....

After all of that, this group was just trying to get their footing, and it worked!!!!! No, "Last Days And Time" (their "Columbia Records debut) is not like the other albums, but it's great in that after this they were able to continue to build on their style of music....

"Time Is On Your Side" is obviously the stand out, and perfect album opener, while songs like "They Don't See", "Remember The Children" and the FANTASTIC instrumental "Power" (Crown Jewel), really brings this album into it's Creative Musical Context....

"Mom" (the other Crown Jewel) is the perfect album closure, which shows how "Maurice" really was trying to bring his Musical message together.....

They even got better with the "Interludes"...

With this rendition of the group, "Maurice" felt a little clarity, especially with the acquisition of "Phillip Bailey"..."Phillip" just seem to take a very heavy load off of "Maurice's" shoulders...

Come on guys, give this album a chance!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!!

PS.: I think it is noteworthy that "Warner Bros." looked stupid too, because after "Clive Davis" (who was President of "Columbia Records" at the time), went crazy when he saw them, he bought the "Warner" contract, and soon would make history!!!!!!
