With the X-Men gradually making their presence known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Marvels star Lashana Lynch addresses the potential of joining the popular mutant group following her most recent MCU appearance.

Speaking with ComicBookMovie.com, Lynch delved into the possibility of featuring as Binary beyond her surprise feature in the Captain Marvel sequel. According to the Maria Rambeau actor, envisioning playing Binary in the MCU excites her, though Marvel hasn't approached her about the prospect of the character joining the X-Men. "I mean, even that sentence, I’m like, 'Am I?'" she said. "That’s not a sentence that’s been put to me at all; we’ve not had a conversation about that. I dipped in for, I think a day. I think I had one day on that film which is wild for it to be so impactful. I was there for a day because I was on Matilda at the time, so that’s wild."

Lashana Lynch Addresses MCU Future After The Marvels Cameo
Lashana Lynch, known for playing Maria Rambeau in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comments on a potential MCU return.

Lynch reprised her role as Maria, the mother of Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau, in The Marvels, having previously made MCU appearances in Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, she also portrayed Binary, a variant of Maria, alongside Kelsey Grammer's Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast during a post-credits scene. Binary is an ally of the X-Men, meeting Monica after she ends up in an alternate reality. Unlike Maria, Binary doesn't recognize Monica.

Lashana Lynch Is Excited About the MCU's Future

After Binary's post-credits appearance, Lynch admitted she's interested in seeing where the character and the X-Men's MCU journey go next. "I don’t know. I don’t know. I used to find it a little bit of a hindrance to not know as I like to know what’s coming and plan, but I love now that I don’t know. I love that I didn’t know that was happening. That’s something that came across time as a slow plan. Well, for me, anyway. They probably had it planned the whole time," she said. "I genuinely don’t know what’s next, but I think with where the franchise is going, it’s naturally going to be exciting. And I’m excited to see where it goes next."
