David Walliams’ ex-wife Lara Stone has given a rare insight into their marriage and said she found the level of interest in their relationship “terrifying”.

The Dutch model, 38, found herself thrust into the spotlight when she began dating the 50-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge in 2009 after reportedly first meeting at a Chelsea football match.

Following a whirlwind romance, they announced their engagement in January 2010 and were married just four months later.

Fast forward three years and they welcomed son Alfred, nine, in 2013.

Opening up to Dutch Vogue in a new interview, Stone – who married property developer David Grievson in 2021 – recalled her alarm at being hounded by paparazzi while attempting to go about her day-to-day life.

She told the publication: "I’d been at his house and was walking back to the Tube and this car was driving next to me and they were taking pictures the whole time.”

Adding: "It was just so bewildering and terrifying.”

They finally decided to call time on their relationship in 2015 with Walliams citing “unreasonable behaviour” in his divorce filing.

Despite this, it was reported at the time that Walliams didn’t want to split and wanted to give things another try for their son.

“David didn’t want to divorce and desperately hoped they could work things out,” a source told The Sun.

The children’s author recently opened up about being a dad and called it the “best”.

“It is the most wonderful thing being a dad. It is the best part of my life by a long way,” he told OK! Online.
