At forest lake highschool there are so many great teachers and programs. The teachers know how to explain the content in detail, and try to relate to students. Band is my favorite class. We have plenty of concerts throughout the year. The school food is good on some days, but not so great on others.
One of the best parts of my high school experience was making lifelong friendships. I met some amazing people who I hope to stay close with over the years. We’ve been through everything together - from studying for exams to attending school events and forming unforgettable memories.
Another positive aspect was being able to explore my interests through various extracurricular activities. I was involved in sports teams(dance), clubs(RISE), and volunteer organizations(NHS) which allowed me to develop new skills and passions.
High school can be a difficult time for many young people, and having more resources and support available for students struggling with mental health issues would make a significant difference.

The best part about my school is the friends that I made and the elective classes that J was able to take, I enjoyed learning about Criminalistics and Personal Money Management. I like how most of the teachers are very chill and laid back. The worst part about my experience would be that it was hard for me to fit in at first because it was a predominantly white school and there were very few Asians but I’m glad I was able to get used to the environment and make some friends. I would like to see the school to be more diverse.
The school has an amazing number of subjects for the students to choose from. They offer any type of classes from business, cooking, mechanics, cabinetmaking, the variety is such that they really cater to all students and their potential interests. There is no reason a student can't start to narrow down what they would like to do in the future. Career training is also available and the school works with local business to expose students to work opportunities that could translate into full time work post graduation. These are also "real" jobs that one could potentially support a family, have retirement and health benefits. The main frustration with the district overall is that they allow the students "late" work starting in elementary school and create an atmosphere where the deadlines to turn in work are flexible and therefore students expect to be able to turn in work late and still get credit.
I overall had a pretty good experience at Forest Lake High school. They just added on 9th grade to the high school from the middle school when I was in seventh grade so it became just the high school instead of the junior high school. It seems like they have been consistently adding new facilities and additions a lot recently which is nice. They added a new football stadium and field house 2 years ago which has gotten a TON of use. I have liked most of my teachers and made some great connections and relationships with a few of them. There are certain teachers that are fairly disliked by a lot of the students but I would assume it is like that with most schools. We have had few issues with safety over my time here and not too many things to mention even just regarding disturbances. The food is overall pretty good we have a concession stand for if there isn't any food that you like in the normal line. Everyone gets one free lunch and they usually have 2 options everyday.
I think the best part of going to this High School is that I got to meet new people but worst part would be that I feel like there’s not much diversity here, so when I first transferred I felt very lonely.
Made friends my first year and they stayed with me til my senior year. The school lets you take a program for college classes called PSEO and I’m really enjoying college.
I love high school and the atmosphere Forest Lake has created for me. They made me feel ready for college and life after college as well. Best part is always homecoming week and worst was probably COVID freshman year. I hope there is more diversity in the oncoming years.
It was a great school academically but not really well with the people. Some of the teachers were great and others weren't. The students were awful though.
Most of the teachers and faculty are very nice and easy to talk to. there is a wide variety of career oriented courses to try different things. its not for everyone but i enjoyed it for the most part.
Lots of career exploration is provided and encouraged. Wide variety of electives, including opportunities to become certified in various areas.
It’s was just great for my first two years and they both went by very fast but all the teachers that I hade were an amazing the food is what you would expect a public school would have
Some teachers here are great. I’ve gone through stuff here and the teachers that I reached out have really helped and been there for me. I honestly can’t say the same for some of the administrators in this school. There was a time where I had an issue with a teacher of mine in my freshman year. I spoke to an administrator and he basically laughed at me. I think that the administration could be better. They don’t seem to care about the students or some of the staff but how the school looks on the outside. I think they should reach out to teachers and students and get feedback on how to be better and really put the feedback they receive in place.
I would love to see our Ranger Connect time used by dividing up areas of college application throughout our 4 years here to better prepare us for applying to college.
More control over what happens in class, teachers need to focus more on the students that want to learn, and avoid students who don't. Besides a complete reform from the basic school system, classes should be separate depending on your GPA/willingness to complete your highschool education. Much like the college/university systems are with the higher the number for the class the harder the class is.
There were many instances when the school would be in lockdown for threats of all sorts. So, I never felt safe.
Teachers and administration genuinely care about students and their success. Students are given many resources for their further education starting in ninth grade and are guided through it all the way to senior year.
