I feel like this one is mostly known by fans of La Huppert and seems to have slipped under the radar of most everybody else - a shame because this is full of really good stuff as well as yet another peerless turn by Isabelle, this time as Camille. Even if you don't know the real life story of Marie Duplessis you know that Izzy isn't going to be stuck out on the streets in rags for long, but her illness means her days are decidedly limited from the beginning and her fate a foregone conclusion - her attempt to live life to the fullest and ascend to the highest ranks of European high society see her enjoying the pleasures…
Morricone let this French Italian Melodrama about the Roman the lady of the camelias truly shine. Also through the perfomances of Bruno Ganz who was a total surprise to see in such a film, Fernando Rey and my dollar friend Volonte I was surprised that I even through the lacking pacing could get something out of this.

I thought the audio was lagging but it turned out the version of this movie I watched was actually dubbed in Japanese.....
servington city population: isabelle huppert... and really great gowns (mean it in a non derogatory way). anyways. bruno ganz if you are free on friday night... oh wait.
this movie got the best face shots of isabelle, i just can't get enough that even when she is dying she looks so beautiful. the screenplay is decent, the costumes are accurate, and the movie itself lives to the standard of period films.
the most relatable scene was when the young dumas came with a date at a party but then he asked alphonsine (huppert) if she wants to make love, she replied 'straight away' leaving his date right then and there lmao
also her father is a useless piece of shite
feelings are able to heal anything, but these are stories healthy people tell
overwhelming to me
Pretty much beautiful in every way
Lost it when Alphonsine, after asking her lover why he didn’t bring her the red dress to wear to the opera, stated that it had been taken back by the dressmaker as it hadn’t been paid for.
