- lost_bobcatNewberg, OR580 contributionsLake is settled against big mountains on one side, about a 5 mile long lake.
Good fishing, gets busy in the summer.Written July 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Syed HChicago, IL6 contributionsLa Grande is a cute little town to visit, shop, and eat. We went to the Art Center which had excellent displays of some local artists. It is worth visiting.Written January 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Brian JPortland, OR163 contributionsThe springs were absolutely as advertised, old time character, great use of the natural resources. The lodge needs considerable work, but that's in process. Just the nature of dated architecture with too much roof area, wooden exterior detailing in a tough environment, both with La Grande winters & the mineral springs caustic nature. Well built interior, very comfortable rooms with AC up to the task of La Grande summers.
The surprise of our visit may have been the filtered spring water available throughout. Very crisp and no sign of the typical spring odors.Written July 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I have visited his shop several times and am greeted with a cheerful welcome and it is always a delight to talk to him about his treasures. You will find items from the 19th century and into the mid 20th century. Do not forget to look above at all the beautiful paintings and artwork hanging high on the ceilings. If you are looking for something in particular just ask and he may have it stored away somewhere. It is a clean organized shop with every item in good shape. You will not find "flea market" junk here. It is a stop well worth the stop.Written May 29, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cam1 contributionThis lake was a big part of my life growing up, going to the lake with some friends, at night being spontaneous teenagers and wanted to drive to Morgan lake to jump in for fun (because there’s not much to do in la grande) and now they have the lake locked down with a camp host who calls the cops the second a car even drives down the road to the lake, and when camping you must be in your tents and silent by 9-10, no staying up late by the fire with friends and family, no hunting crawdads at night when they come out. Because if the camp host sees flashlights or can hear voices across the water she will either call the police or ride her four wheeler over and yell at you. This lake went from a great safe place to make memories and to bring the kids, to a micro managed day care where you feel guilty for just being there it really ruined the whole experience for me and many people I talked to.Written April 10, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HawaiianShirtsSalem, OR88 contributionsMy family and I stopped for about an hour to take a break from driving on our cross-state road trip. This was a great place to go wading on a hot summer day. The water in the creek was shallow and cool. The rocks were a bit slippery due to the algae, but we didn't mind that at all. Just a bit of bushwhacking required to get from the parking area to the water's edge.
Need a break? Have kids who like to play in water? Stop here!Written August 24, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has a great selection of costume jewelry, historic photos, vintage textiles, etc. It also has a huge selection of new knives by famous makers and collectible knives and the owner will profesionally sharpen yours for a very reasonable price. And, unlike a lot of other stores, the prices are very reasonable.Written November 17, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
