McCord is one of three scholarship quarterbacks on the Buckeyes' roster along with four-star freshman Devin Brown.
Last season, as one of Ohio State's three backup quarterbacks along with Jack Miller III and Quinn Ewers, who each transferred to Florida and Texas, respectively, McCord appeared in five games and completed 65.8% of his passes for 416 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Kyle McCord went to St. Joseph's Prep High School with Marvin Harrison Jr.
McCord and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. came into Ohio State's program in 2021 already with rapport.
The pair played together at St. Joseph's Prep High School in Philadelphia, winning three-straight state championships. In three years as the starting quarterback, McCord set city and league records for career passing yards with 6,887 and touchdown passes with 88.
According to 247Sports' composite rankings, McCord, a five-star athlete, was the No. 28 player, the No. 6 quarterback and the No. 2 prospect out of Pennsylvania in the 2021 class, despite living in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.

Kyle McCord's father, Derek McCord, played quarterback at Rutgers from 1988-92. In nine appearances, Derek McCord completed 47.6%on of his passes for 441 yards, throwing three touchdowns and two interceptions.
