“My dad’s whole philosophy, my mom’s too, is start with the reins out, and if you do something that should break the trust, then the reins come in — instead of starting the reins in and letting them out — which is awful because it turned me into Pinocchio,” she joked of her inability to lie to her parents.

“Since everything was allowed, it made me not want to do crazy s—,” she added.

When Stone won leading actress at the 2024 BAFTA Awards for her role in Poor Things in February 2024, she made sure to thank her mom "in case I don't ever get a chance to again."

"I really want to thank my mom because she’s the best person I know in the world and she inspires me every single day and she’s always made me believe this kind of crazy idea that I could do something like this and I’m beyond grateful," she said. "Without her none of this exists, including my life, so thanks for that too, mom. Thank you so much."

She made her parents a PowerPoint presentation when she wanted to become an actress

When Stone wanted to pursue an acting career full-time, she told Jimmy Kimmel that she made her parents a PowerPoint presentation to convince them.

During her interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that her parents wouldn’t entertain the idea until she found an agent. She eventually linked up with a local acting coach who helped her book a few auditions.
