I am surprised by the either extreme love or hatred that the Kardashian name provokes. I love watching the show, I loved reading the book. Kris is honest & reflective, & as a celebrity, is obviously tough skinned as the public can be incredibly critical as proven by the reviews I have read here about this book. They have feelings too, folks! Envy & jealousy are awful things.. Yes, they have privilege others may not, but that's true of most celebrities & many public figures. They are still human beings tempted, hurt and delighted by the same things as any other human being as written in the book. I admire Kris very much, actually. I would have loved to have her connections & drive to establish for my kids the great start that she was able to engage her children with, but such is life. I love that on their show they educate about so many different topics. If they have a procedure, it's on the show. If they have a heart for the homeless, it's on the show. They do enjoy a lavish lifestyle, but I would not trade places with them. All that public attention brings its own challenges & dangers.. Kudos to the Kardashians for realizing their influence & using their platform for good where they can, such as Kim's involvement with the release of Cyntoia Brown & her advocacy in prison reform, her segment on homelessness, etc. Love & hugs, Kardashian! Onward!

There's just something so fascinating about these people. I thought this was a great book, filled with new things that I didn't know about the family. The stuff about OJ & Nicole was very interesting to read about, and, I also found out how they came about to get their hit show. I thought it was very odd that there was absolutely no mention whatsoever about the infamous "Kim Kardashian Sex Tape". That surely should have been written about in this book. It was blatantly left out, in my opinion. I think Kris Jenner is a genuinely good person at heart-- who truly loves her family & friends very much. She has lived a very pampered & luxurious life, and has many goals. Way more goals than any "real people" would ever have, and she does admit her fame and opportunities are large in part due to her daughters--But again-- no mention of the sex tape--which I think has a lot to do with their fame & fortune of the family. Love them or hate them-- There's no denying that the Kardashians are a fascinating bunch. If you like them even just a little bit-- I highly recommend this book. I really enjoyed it & had a hard time putting it down. It was very well written & a very enjoyable read.

I am so fascinated by this family. I think they have good hearts fundamentally but their values are just horrendously skewed. Kris Jenner is a fascinating case study, her profound fixation on materialism was instilled in her as a child and has been passed on to her children. It's heartbreaking and ironic that one who has such a strong faith doesn't recognize the gifts of simplicity and the sins of gluttony. It's ironic that these reality show stars have virtually no understanding of what reality is for majority of people. The focus on appearance materialism and perpetual mission to acquire more is just staggering. I do think they could all benefit from therapy. I also find it appalling the patterns of paternalistic control that have been normalized, women dating men decade or more older, the infidelity, the fact that no one finds it appalling even in today's climate that Kris was groomed and courted by men so much older then her. Then she talks about how to this day she doesn't really know why she cheated and it was the biggest mistake etc. Umm, hello you married a man who you were completely reliant on, you had no self determination and everything about your life was so wrapped up in appearances acquiring more things/cars/houses and all the while being very heavily involved in Evangelical Christianity the disconnect would be incredibly disorienting.

I'm going to give an honest review, as the Kardashians intrigue me. I was impressed that Kris wrote the book herself, without a ghostwriter. I had to look at the jacket a couple of times, to see who helped her write the book, and all I seen was Kris's name. So kudos to you Kris!

I went immediately to the OJ section and read this chapter first before I read her life story. I was surprised to learn that she was really good friend with Nicole.

As I continued reading, I got the impression that she spent her live traveling on luxurious trips, throwing parties, attending functions, etc, etc. At one point she stated that she spent her days going out to lunch with the girls, getting her nails done, shopping, and oh yeah, playing with the kids. Of course, with nannies and housekeepers caring for your children, and your home, there is really nothing left for you to do. Except have an affair...

After reading about her affair, I became disgusted. She talks about her love and respect for Robert Kardashian all throughout the book, but she wasn't in love with him, so she cheated. After they split, she talked about having no money, but did she do anything about it? No. She married Bruce Jenner and continued to her life of luxury. Kris Jenner never worked in her adult life. Robert Kardashian was a millionaire. I was feeling jealous, but then, I thought about all the women who marry for money, Kris is no different.

I had to give her credit for thanking Khloe. She seems to be closest to Kim, but in the book she gushes about Khloe. Kris makes no apologies that she has masterminded the Kardashian empire. She stated she is going to milk her 15 minutes of fame, and endorse every product that she can. It's all about money, MONEY, MONEY!

I love this book. Kris comes across to be honest and openhearted about her past, and that is not always such a pretty sight. Yet you have to sympathise with her and admire her guts. To me, it's a relaxing pageturner about famous people leading a dream life (although I haven't finished the book yet), I enjoy it very much. There are also some lovely childhood pictures of the Kardashian kids, and youth pictures of Kris and Robert Kardashian. I would recommend this book to my friends!
