- Marina VHanden, Sweden197 contributionsMemorial park is Kragujevac's landmark. It is not far from the center. You can either walk or take a taxi. It is cheap to go raxi. This memorial park is a beautiful place with touching history. At the entrance to the park, there is a museum dedicated to the victims that German Nazis executed during World War II. Very moving. During the German Nazi occupation of Serbia, students and teachers were executed at this location. This as a revenge whsere the Germans killed 100 Serbs for a dead German soldier. Sad and tragic history. It is a beautiful park with a tragic history. Highly recommended if you are hungry for history and fantastic nature.Written November 1, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David, WroclawWroclaw, Poland19 contributionsWe, a family of four, were staying very close to the Cathedral and decided to look in.
The Cathedral is quite small; it is extensively decorated with wall and ceiling paintings which, although maybe not of the highest artistic merit, portray very many biblical figures.
I have no doubt that a visit would be much w meaningful for somebody more religious than me (ie. almost anybody).Written June 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jelica VKragujevac, Serbia228 contributionsWhen we talk about Modern Serbia, we refer to XIX century liberation form the Otoman empire, and the emancipation of the liberated people, that was eager to get along with the European currents of the time. That is when city of Kragujevac lives its blooming, because it is pronounced capital of Modern Serbia in the 1818. Due to this fact, much was invested in cultural and educational development of the city, and one of the main events of the period was foundation of the first theater in Serbia - the Knjazevsko-srpski theater in the 1835. It was founded and directed by then highly recognized play-writer and expert in the theater. Nowadays, it is a pride of the city, especially because it still works, it still prepares great plays, hosts theaters from all over the region and organizes ine of the main theater festivals in the country - Joakim Fest! Ppeople of Kragujevac gladly visit it, and talk about it to the visitors with special joy.
The building is beautiful, both inside and outside! If you are art lover it will certainly be interesting for you to see it, because it represents the typical high architecture of the XIX century Serbian cities. Younger generation gather on the small square just outside the theater so it is more than a cultural landmark - it is a place for chating, getting to know the locals and enjoy the summer eves. The employees of the theater are always verry opened to the visitores so you can enter and see its interios and main hall for free! The best possible way to pick up abit of history and a bit of energy of the city.Written July 25, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A small creek, wood, manmade gardens, children playground, botanics and mini Zoo with domestic animals, runned by locals. No fee, but be kind to bring some waste bread loafs to contribute feeding animals. Here you can have a nice picknick on a sort of cities "Ecology island".Written January 13, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mihajlo MKragujevac, null, Serbia9 contributionsThe Monastery is secluded in a gorge of a creek running into river Dulenka some 16 km south of Kragujevac.on the old road to Jagodina, turning right at the pointer). It is a part of "Trilogy" along with two more late medieval monasteries nearby Sarinac and Denkovac. Raletinac is a female monastery. Due to a Turkish looting the buildings are from later period. Although you will be left without sights of astonishing, (but rather simple) architecture you will enjoy a peaceful and very friendly environment. The beautiful natural surrounding is even more improved by vivid colors of many flowers grown by the nuns in the yard, next to a shimmering water from the spring running into the creek. Do come in springtime. The meal you might get to share with them is vegetarian. Please obey simple rules, dress properly while entering the compound (no shorts, no mini skirts), go to a church first, light a candle - upper shelve for your closest, lower for a deceased). Usually you will see civilians, very often these are a local voluntaries, helping in running such a big compound in simple works...Written December 9, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
