Klaus Kinski war ein deutscher Schauspieler, Regisseur und Buchautor, der auf die Darstellung psychopathischer und getriebener Figuren spezialisiert war. Besonders bekannt wurde er durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Regisseur Werner Herzog in Filmen wie "Nosferatu - Phantom der Nacht", "Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes" und "Fitzcarraldo". Er wurde als schwierige Persönlichkeit angesehen und neigte zu extremen Gefühls- und Wutausbrüchen. Kinski hatte drei Kinder, Pola, Nastassja und Nikolai Kinski.

Klaus Kinski wurde am 18. Oktober 1926 in Zoppot bei Danzig geboren. Während seiner Schulzeit verdiente er sich selbst Geld zum Unterhalt. Er behauptete auch, dass er sich zu einem Dieb entwickelt habe. Obwohl seine Familie laut seinen Brüdern als "gutbürgerlich" galt, widersprach Klaus dieser Aussage. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg diente er in einer Fallschirmjägereinheit der Wehrmacht und geriet in britische Kriegsgefangenschaft. Nach dem Krieg begann er seine Karriere als Schauspieler an Berliner Bühnen und wurde später auch im Film bekannt.

Klaus Kinski wirkte als Rezitator auf kleinen Bühnen und trat bei den 7. Weltfestspielen der Jugend und Studenten 1959 in Wien auf. Seine Rezitationen von Werken großer Autoren wurden auf Sprechplatten veröffentlicht. Durch die Edgar-Wallace-Filme erreichte er bekannt sein beim Kinopublikum. Im Jahr 1971 traf er den Regisseur Werner Herzog, mit dem er mehrere Filme drehte. Die Zusammenarbeit war jedoch von großen Spannungen geprägt und endete schließlich in ihrem letzten Film "Cobra Verde". Klaus Kinski starb im Jahr 1991 an einem Herzleiden.
