Klaus Badelt

Klaus Badelt (born 12 June 1967 in Frankfurt, West Germany) is a German composer, producer, and arranger of film scores who started off his career composing scores for low-budget German movies and acts. Badelt had contributed to the score for The Prince of Egypt in 1998, which included an almost impossible task of formulating God’s voice.

He is most famous for his collaborations with the Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer. In 2000; his contributions were included in the year’s greatest blockbusters, including Mission Impossible II and X-Men (with Michael Kamen).

Badelt co-wrote and co-produced the score of Gladiator along with Zimmer and singer/composer Lisa Gerrard. Badelt also collaborated with Zimmer on The Pledge, Hannibal, Pearl Harbor and famous and popular score for the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl of which elements were reused for later movies in the series.

Further praised soundtracks include the Chinese fantasy film The Promise and the Dreamworks remake The Time Machine, for which he was awarded the Discovery of the Year Award at the World Soundtrack Awards.

In 2004, Klaus founded his own film music company, Theme Park Studios, in Santa Monica. Since then, he has scored films such as Constantine, Poseidon, Rescue Dawn, and TMNT.

Klaus Badelt was also invited to write the music for the closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
